Sean Penn's ex-wife, Leila George, wants the ability for either of them to collect spousal support from one another to be eliminated.

According to new legal documents, obtained by The Blast, D'Onofiro is asking the court to "terminate" its ability to award spousal support to both her and the legendary actor. It's an interesting move and points towards the couple having an iron-clad prenuptial agreement in place.

Obviously, Sean Penn is extremely wealthy and Leila has a successful career of her own. But, in most cases, some sort of spousal support or child support is ordered in a divorce case, based on the party's income. Our educated guess is that these two had a few high-profile lawyers knock out a legal agreement, which spells out specifically who gets what in the instance of a divorce.

In the filing, D'Onofrio claims the couple's date of separation is September 28, 2021. Again, this date is important ONLY if either party entered into a contract or earned income after that date -- which would not be considered community property. In this case, we are guessing money is not going to be the issue.

The documents due indicate that she "has yet to determine the full nature and extent of the separate property assets and obligation to each party." In other words, she continued, "there are various items of community and quasi-community assets and debts, full nature and extent of which are unknown."

We broke the story, Leila D'Onofrio filed for divorce on October 15, 2021, and neither side has indicated what happened in their relationship.

As we reported, the 60-year-old actor married the 28-year-old daughter of actor Vincent D'Onofiro in an intimate ceremony with minimal people in attendance. The former couple has been linked together since 2016 but decided to get married during the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic.

At the time, Penn detailed the wedding plans telling Seth Meyers, "We did a COVID wedding, by that I mean it was a county commissioner on Zoom, we were at the house, my two children and her brother, and we did it that way." The couple has been off and on for some time, with one source putting it, "Leila has been in Sean’s life for a while. They got together and then they broke up, and Sean won her back."

They continued, “He realized he had made a mistake and when he felt he might lose her, he worked hard to get her back. They got back together during COVID and became really close and got engaged a few months ago, early during quarantine."

It should be noted, in most high-profile cases like this one -- the divorce will be negotiated by a private mediator and a settlement and judgment will be filed in the courts once it is finished. Again, we are guessing this will be regulated by a prenup so the division of assets should be simple.

Sean Penn was previously married to Robin Wright-Penn and Madonna.
