Miranda Cosgroves Music Career Dwindled After This Weird Accident

Miranda Cosgrove rose to fame when she starred in the Nickelodeon television series known as "iCarly." Like many other celebrities her age, Cosgrove explored all her gifts and decided to add a music career to her blossoming acting career.

By 2011, she had released an EP and a debut album that performed well, so she decided to go on a bus tour to promote her songs and increase her popularity. Unfortunately, this was a decision that she would later regret.

Cosgrove's tour bus was involved in an accident while going to Kansas for the next stop in her tour. The bus suffered extensive damage, and everyone on the bus, especially Cosgrove, her mother, and the driver, were injured in the accident.

Ten years later, Cosgrove revisited the incident and revealed she discovered a disturbing injury after her injuries were treated.

In August 2011, Cosgrove was getting into her music tour called Dancing Crazy Tour. Her tour bus was in Illinois en route to the next tour stop, Kansas, when it came across a semi-truck overturned on the road.

Instead of swerving out the truck's path, the tour bus driver decided to press hard on the brakes and drive straight into the semi-truck. This caused extensive damage to the bus, and the occupants were not spared.

Cosgrove broke her ankle from the impact and had to wear a cast. Her mom, who was on tour with her, sustained several injuries, and the bus driver who received the majority of the impact had to be taken to the hospital via airlift, where he was given 45 stitches for his wounds.

Cosgrave and her mother later sued the bus drivers of her tour bus and the disabled semi-truck, and they claimed that she was left permanently disabled from the completely avoidable accident.

Ten years after the crash, Cosgrove reflected on everything that happened in an appearance on the Hypochondriactor podcast. She mentioned that she discovered that the accident left a disturbing mark on her body.

"It was so strange, because when I woke up, I had a cast on, like a soft cast, and then later I went back and they removed it. And then that's when I noticed the hole. And I was asking questions like, 'What's this? What's that?' And then I was like, 'Wait, why is there a hole in my leg?' So they were like, 'Oh, we didn't do that,'" she explained.

She described it, saying it looked like someone had cut a hole in her leg. While on the podcast, she spoke to Dr. Priyanka Wali, an internal medicine physician. Dr. Wali shared her theory about what she thinks caused the hole.

She said, "The one answer that I did get, and you can tell me if this makes any sense, was the physical therapist told me sometimes they have to drain blood from your foot during the surgery, and that they have to put a hole to fix that."

In reply, Cosgrove explained that she wasn't entirely convinced but couldn't rule it out because it was possible.

Unfortunately, the crash cost Cosgrove more than just her physical injuries and a hole in her leg. A report by TMZ stated that due to the accident, Cosgrove was forced to cancel 25 already booked concerts, which would have brought in nearly $400,000.

The TV star also reportedly lost over $550,000 in future shows that were on track to being booked.

After the accident, the entire tour was canceled, and her music label, Sony Music, soon released her from her contract. According to Cosgrove, this was because they were counting on her to have a successful tour.

She also reportedly lost a deal with Cosmetic brand Neutrogena that she claimed was worth over $400,000. In total, her financial losses have been estimated by TMZ to be almost $2.5 million.

Cosgrove's music talent became known to the world when she sang the introductory theme song for iCarly, called Leave It All To Me, and featured a previous co-star, Drake Bell. The song quickly became a hit and made an entry on the Billboard charts.

In 2008, the soundtrack for iCarly was released, and Cosgrove was the primary artiste of many of the songs, with features from Bell and Sean Kingston. She eventually decided to launch her solo music career in 2009 and released a debut EP titled About You Now.

She also released her debut album in 2010, titled "Sparks Fly." The album performed well, with the song "Kissin U" peaking at No.8 on Billboard charts. This success propelled Cosgrove to release her second and final music project, an EP titled "High Maintenance."

In a recent interview with Billboard, Cosgrove spoke about her music career and said, "I've learned a lot over the years of being in music. In the beginning, I didn't know much. Being in the studio the first time was overwhelming, and it felt like I was in a hurry. It's nice now to be able to sit back a little bit."
