Shannen Doherty has been dealing with a lot of emotional distress since her recent diagnosis with Stage 4 Breast Cancer and the fact that she is in the middle of an ugly lawsuit against the insurance company State Farm.

In 2018, what was called the Woosley fires ripped through the state of California causing tons of damage. Doherty's home was damaged by the fires. She looked to State Farm for help in repairing her home so she and her husband could live in it again.

Because of the fire damage to her home, she and her husband had to rent a home until State Farm could get their damaged home fixed and livable again. However, State Farm released court documents saying that they were no longer going to pay for her rental. She wasn't able to live in her permanent home because there were still toxins in it from the fires.

Her lawsuit against the insurance company started in March 2019, when Doherty claimed they did not pay for the full repairs needed to be done to her home so she and her husband would be able to return to their home.

A court document filed against State Farm by Doherty claimed:

"At the end of March 2019, State Farm refused to pay any further rent for Ms. Doherty's rental property. Ms. Doherty's landlord threatened her with eviction and posting of a three-day notice to quit if the rent was not received from State Farm for April 2019."

Doherty claimed that her permanent home still had enough damage to keep her and her husband from being able to move back in. They had already lived in the rental home for three months.

Because of her claims against the insurance company, State Farm agreed to pay for another month for the rental home they were living in. However, they told her they would not be paying anymore after that and she would have to find somewhere else to live for now.

According to Doherty's court documents against the insurance company:

"Thus, Ms. Doherty moved out of the rental property at the end of 2019 and she and her husband took up residence at her mother's condominium, sleeping on her couch."

Doherty then claimed that it wasn't until after they moved into her mother's home and started sleeping on the couch, State Farm checked her home over again and determined that there was still a lot of damage, preventing them from moving back into their permanent home. Once they determined there was still damage, they extended their payments for their rental home for an extra three months.

The court documents against State Farm continued stating:

"This, of course, came after Ms. Doherty had nearly been evicted from her first rental property, had to endure over a month of sleeping on her mother's couch, and now had to find another short term rental of indeterminate length."

A week after Doherty filed another claim on the insurance company, State Farm fired back against her accusing her of using her recent cancer diagnosis for sympathy from them. Doherty's recent claim against the insurance company blasted them for claiming lies against her when they claimed she continued to smoke cigarettes all the way until March 2019.

This is a lot for a person to go through at once. Not only is she still fighting State Farm for how they have treated her but the breast cancer she was first diagnosed with in 2015 and had gone into remission after, has come back and now she is at stage 4.
