It will take years, and probably decades, for Prince George to ascend to the throne of the United Kingdom. His great grandmother is currently the queen of England, and the crown will then go to his grandfather, and then his father, before it lands on his head.

Even though George won't be king for quite some time, Prince William and Kate Middleton are already taking steps to show him what royal life is like. Apparently it's never too early to start preparing.

According to The Sun, a source close to the couple says that William and Kate are teaching George how to be king using storytelling. Understanding the immense pressures the role will bring, they're trying to help him understand without terrifying him.

“William and Kate have already talked to George and Charlotte about their future roles, but in a child-like way so that they understand without feeling overwhelmed,” the source said. “George knows there’s something special about him and that one day he’ll be the future King of England.”

Although he's just six years old, George is already being groomed for his spot on the throne. Of course, he's helped by the fact that his father, William, also learned that he would be king at a very young age.

George is also benefiting from a deep bench in terms of succession. There are two generations that have to ascend to the throne before he'll have to take on the responsibility, so he has a bit of a buffer to learn.

Because George is still so young, he hasn't been tapped to perform any official duties on behalf of the royal family just yet. Following his uncle Prince Harry's decision to step back from the royal family, his mother and father have only seen the pressure on them increase.

Duties that could once be shared between Harry, Meghan Markle, William, and Kate are now being placed entirely on William and Kate, even as they try to raise their three young children.

Following the birth of William's children, Harry's importance in the future of the royal family began to diminish. Because of the rules of the line of succession, Harry is now sixth, behind Charles, William, and all of William's children.

George's birth may have been the first time that Harry was forced to consider what his future should look like, and how much it should involve the royal family. Ultimately, he and Meghan elected to try and find a quieter life away from the pressures of the family.
