Kourtney Kardashian hasn’t had the easiest time on “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” after mentioning that she wanted to take a step back from the reality show.

In season 17, the mother-of-three told her sisters, Kim and Khloe, that she wasn’t into the idea of having to share everything about her personal life any longer, admitting that her priorities had shifted now that she’s older.

But sources are now claiming that the main reason behind Kourtney’s plans to distance herself from the TV show is simply down to the safety and well-being of her children.

An insider told People that Kourt doesn’t plan to ditch “KUWTK” entirely, but she will definitely have her limits with how much fans get to see of her private life, including the involvement of her children, Mason, 10, Penelope, 7, and Reign, 5.

“She is happy to be filming less for both herself and the kids,” an insider revealed.

Kourtney was said to have grown concerned about the safety of her children now that they’re getting to the age where nasty comments on social media could really affect their self-esteem.

And if anyone would know a thing or two about online trolls, it would be the Kardashians.

“As Kourtney and Scott’s kids get older, especially Kourtney feels that public exposure is not really beneficial for the kids,” a source continued. “There are already trolls that post nasty comments about the kids.”

In spite of the fact that Kourtney has found it generally simple to shield her youngsters from the spotlight as much as she has, she realizes that on the off chance that they keep on staying on the show, it will be harder for them to have any kind of privacy.

It was just in November when Kourt revealed she was somewhat taking a break from “KUWTK” to focus her attention on motherhood and spending more time with her three kids.

"I just decided to spend more time as a mom and put more of my energy there," she said at the time.

"But I'm not saying goodbye. I think you'll have to see more of it in the new season, season 18. It isn't airing yet but it's being filmed."

Khloe says that the family is supporting Kourtney’s decision not to share everything about her personal life on “KUWTK,” but she’s assured fans that the mother-of-three won’t be forever gone.

"I feel like it's a revolving door, so Kourtney might leave this week, [but] she'll be back," she said. "They all come back."

“Keeping Up With the Kardashians” first premiered in 2007 and became an instant hit with viewers around the world. The show will enter its 18th series when it returns to the E! network in March.

As for Kourtney, she's expected to make appearances here and there, but it's unclear how much fans will get to see of her in the new season.
