The last episode in This Is Us' "Big Three" trilogy centered teen Kate’s toxic relationship with video store worker/film buff Mark. The episode explored Mark's true colors as he body-shamed and yelled at her.

This came to a head when he got angry with her over supposed disloyalty, ending with him driving away without her. Kate ended up finding a payphone in the cold and calling Rebecca.

She almost told her mother the truth about her relationship when Mark apologized, with the couple heading towards the cabin.

This sent into mother bear mode as Rebecca has gathered Kevin and Randall to go find Kate, sensing something wrong.

After Kate and Mark's relationship turned toxic in the last episode, Hannah Zeile (aka teen Kate) spoke on what might happen next in the young couple's troubled relationship.

“This will finally be where it all comes to a head,” Hannah said. “The Pearsons are a close family. They do what they need to do for the ones that they love.”

Given the relationship's toxic turn of events, Zeile gave more insight into what might go down in next week's episode as her family seems to be coming to the rescue.

"I think that the scene where she is at the payphone, almost opens up Rebecca, and then chooses to still keep everything behind closed doors, I think that was almost the breaking point,” Zeile stated. “I think she’s now aware that she’s being mistreated."

She continued, "Taking the final step to open up to her mother about it would have blown it all wide open. So she’s almost there and then she retreats. But I do think that although she gets back in the car with Mark to head to the cabin, you can feel she’s trying because she does still love him. But you can feel that there’s kind of a different energy.”

Zeile hinted at more of the dire place Kate and Mark's relationship will be in the next episode.

The actress mentioned a “slight tinge of just trying to kind of placate because she might be a little fearful as well." She shed more light on the situation as it appears to reach its grand finale in the next episode.

Zeile's hint places the young couple's relationship is more of an irreparable place, given the mental and emotional abuse tactics, Mark has already begun to use on a vulnerable Kate.

Zeile can see the parallels between Kate and Mark's relationship and Kate and Toby's seemingly crumbling marriage.

“Kate right now is struggling in her marriage and feeling insecure and maybe not worthy because Toby’s gotten into great shape and he’s losing weight. He’s interacting with other women at the CrossFit gym," she stated. "She’s starting to feel insecure and that most definitely can link back to the fact that her first definition of love — her first boyfriend — made her feel insecure, called her fat, and put her in a place where she was constantly not feeling worthy. It seems like those similar feelings are resonating again.”

To see how the story plays out, watch the NBC hit drama on Tuesdays at 9 pm, which is currently airing its fourth season.
