Comedian Pete Davidson, best known for his work on Saturday Night Live and for his brief engagement to Ariana Grande, has recently released a trailer for his new Netflix special, entitled "Alive From New York". "Alive From New York" will be Davidson's first stand-up special for Netflix. The special was recorded recently at the Gramercy Theater in New York and is set to be released on February 25th. The trailer for Alive In New York features Davidson performing an extended joke about "gay friends" who are overly affectionate with women. Davidson casts a skeptical eye towards men who, "run up on your girlfriend and squeeze her boobs and slap her ass and be like, ‘damn girl, you look great!”

"I don’t find that fuckin’ funny," Davidson jokes, "I’m sorry. Like, I’m all for the gayness, it doesn’t mean I’m against gayness, it’s just, you just get to slap ass on a technicality?”

Davidson, now 26, began his comedy career as a 16-year-old after he was dared by his friends to perform: "my friends dared me. They knew I always wanted to do it. And then I wasn’t going to do it. And then I smoked a joint and I did it. It went all right." Davidson followed his passion and eventually landed a job as a cast member on Saturday Night Live in 2014. At the time of his SNL debut, Davidson was one of the youngest cast members in the show's history.

Davidson became recognizably famous in 2018 due to his engagement (and subsequent break-up) with Ariana Grande. He was the subject of several Grande songs, including "Pete Davidson" (obviously) and "thank u, next".

Throughout his life, Davidson has struggled with Crohn's disease, borderline personality disorder, and childhood trauma caused by the death of his father in 9/11. Davidson has also posted about feeling "suicidal" due to online harassment. Much of Davidson's stand-up material deals with these issues in a candid manner.

Alive In New York is the first of two major projects Davidson will be involved in this year. In addition to the special, Davidson is slated to appear in a film about his own life directed by Judd Apatow. The untitled movie will be the first Apatow-directed project since the 2015 Amy Schumer vehicle Trainwreck.

Davidson will continue to perform as a regular cast member on Saturday Night Live. Davidson also makes an appearance in the upcoming Suicide Squad sequel set for release in 2021.
