Demi Lovato recently got another tattoo, going to artist Alessandro Capozzi for a holiday session that lasted eight hours. The result? A beautiful fallen angel, whose wings are shattering into nothing, being held up by three white doves.

The realistic artwork is amazing.

"We created this piece together to represent a rebirth of the spirit," Capozzi wrote in the caption. "The dark wings represent the bad times, their fading away is how she moved forward. The light from within represents the inner strength necessary for the change and the doves, pulling her up, symbolize the reach of a higher state of consciousness. Congratulations on your inspiring journey Demi, honored to have represented this for you."

According to Lovato, the tattoo symbolizes her spiritual awakening, and means a lot to her.

"I recently went dark on social media in preparation for my Grammy and Super Bowl performances but while I was off socials I got this incredibly meaningful tattoo done by [Alessandro Capozzi]," she began the post. "Getting tatted by him was an experience I've never had before.. no idea what I was going to get done, I told him about my life and where I was at in that moment and we created a combination on images that best symbolized the spiritual awakening I was having."

The doves represent the Holy trinity, and the wings represent the darkness that Lovato is shedding.

"Alessandro - you are extremely talented and I can’t wait for more!!" she added. "Thank you for this special experience.. the only bummer is I can't physically see this amazing artwork because it's on my back…ps. I still can't believe how life like this looks and it healed amazing as well."

We can only wait and see what the next tattoo she has done by Alessandro will be!

In the past few years, Lovato has had a rollercoaster of ups and downs, including an overdose in 2018. After that, she had the word "survivor" tattooed on her neck. In January, Lovato made her first performance since her overdose, taking the stage at the Grammys. Then, she went on at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.

"The dark wings represent the bad times, their fading away is how she moved forward," he explained. "The light from within represents the inner strength necessary for the change and the doves, pulling her up symbolize the reach of a higher state of consciousness."

Lovato has a few special tattoos on her person (or perhaps they're all special to her, but some have specific meanings), and I think they serve as reminders of what she's been through; where she's been, who she used to be, and who she wants to be. Hopefully we won't hear about another overdose, or rehab situation anytime soon--if ever again.

Keep up the great work, Lovato! We're rooting for you, and eagerly awaiting some new music. That tattoo is truly beautiful.
