‘Counting On’ star Jill Duggar Dillard has reportedly thrown some shade at her parents, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar. This recent shot at the elder Duggars comes at the heels of ongoing issues with the family, specifically, those pertaining to her husband, Derick Dillard, who has notoriously not gotten along with the rest of the Duggars as his and Jill’s relationship progressed on. With this latest post to Instagram, it appears that one of the oldest of the Duggar’s many children has finally had enough with the rest of her family.
On January 29, the lifelong television star went on her Instagram, sharing a powerful quote written by Christian author Edith Schaeffer that made reference to parents that neglect to “lovingly” nurture the kids they bring into this world. This post was interpreted by many as an alleged allusion to her own highly-publicized rocky relationship with her parents, alongside the various other reasons the family has been in the news over the years, which included an alleged sexual assault case perpetrated by another Duggar child.
“You cannot expect to have a close relationship with a teenager who, after all, is still the same person as the 2-year-old you stuck crying into bed, the 3-year-old you spanked and shoved aside, the 4-year-old you wouldn’t listen to, the 5-year-old you never shared beauty with, the 6-year-old you found boring, or you ‘trained’ never to butt in, but never gave time to make a cozy and beautiful background out of which you could talk to him or her,” read the quote posted to her Instagram page.
She captioned the post of the quote simply with, “beautiful.”
“Great moments of trust and confidence do not spring out of concrete,” the quote went on to say. “They need a long time of being planted, fertilized, weeded, watered, warmed by sun and cared for lovingly before they become mature ‘plants’ — plants of understanding communication and loving relationship. If you never have time to enhance moments together by making some preparation for beauty as well as for meeting necessities, you are apt to miss altogether the spontaneous response and opening up of the personality which this would bring.”
The issues between the Dillards and the Duggars stemmed from Derick’s comments about Jim Bob being the only member of the family contractually obligated and paid directly by the studio. He took to his Instagram to vent his feelings about the Duggar patriarch and how it has affected his and Jill’s relationship with her immediate family.
“We’re not allowed in the house when [Jim Bob] isn’t there,” he commented. “Jill even has to ask [Jim Bob’s] permission to go over to the house to help her sister when she was in labor because her sister wanted help, but Jill couldn’t provide assistance until we got it cleared from JB.”
