All eyes have been on the Royal Family as of late. The world is fascinated to learn how this family lives their daily life. Especially, now that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have made history by deciding to step down from palace living and will now be working to become financially independent.
Naturally, big scandals are a big deal in the news, but a lot of information has been coming out about the day-to-day aspects of the Royal Family’s life and it’s just as interesting.
For example, we recently learned the Royal Family members do not wear seatbelts while in a car … ever. Or at least they aren’t supposed to and it would appear they rarely do.
The Royals have had scares and emergencies surrounding vehicles before, like Prince Philip’s car crash and the tragic death of Princess Diana. But the Royals are far more concerned with being attacked or having something dangerous happen that would cause them to have to exit their cars as quickly as possible.
Another vehicle safety measure taken by the Royals is that they are never supposed to close their own car doors. That might seem silly on the surface, but it actually makes a lot of sense when you know the reason.
Royal car doors lock immediately once the passengers are inside, so if they close their doors after exiting the vehicle, they won’t be able to get back inside the car right away if there is an emergency. Security is supposed to close the door when the Royal is considered safe. Prince Harry closing his own door at the Invictus Games was such a big deal for this very reason.
Well, here’s another fascinating detail about the Royal Family: They have cell phones! The Royals are almost never seen using or even holding cell phones, but they do actually have them.
Photos are rare, but they do exist. Apparently, Prince Harry, Duchess Meghan, and Prince William are fans of the iPhone. The Queen marches to her own drummer, reportedly preferring to use a Samsung. We just never see them because it is considered more professional not to bring them out in public.
The only thing fans of the Royals are unsure of is whether or not Kate Middleton also has a phone of her own. Given her busy schedule, it would only make sense for her to have access to one.
But Kate reportedly only carries four items in her sometimes tiny handbag: a compact mirror, lip balm, blotting paper, and a handkerchief. It could be possible Duchess Kate uses pockets or has security or Prince William carry her phone for her.
