Rosario Dawson Dishes About Her Wellness Routine

Actress Rosario Dawson has been in the spotlight in a completely new way since she started dating politician Cory Booker. Dawson has a lot of her plate these days. She's juggling her relationship, her career, and parenting all while dealing with the stress that Hollywood life creates.

Dawson has emphasized that with all that going on, prioritizing her physical and mental health is very important. She's revealed that she does her best to stick to a wellness routine that helps keep her looking and feeling her best.

Taking Time for Herself

Though it's difficult to do with her jam packed schedule, Dawson says that she always sets aside time to be by herself. She loves to take time to relax with a face mask on, especially an all-natural one from Burt's Bees, since she's now a brand ambassador for the company. She also loves to relax in the bath and she makes sure to schedule regular massages.

Dawson says that she has to set aside this time for herself no matter how busy she is. "It’s actually necessary. If I don’t prioritize mindfulness, I am not going to be there for everybody in the way I need to be.”

Meditation

Dawson also prioritizes meditation and self reflection. She says that it's hard to find the time to do it, but she makes sure to find the time because she feels the difference meditation makes in her life.

Dawson says that she tries to take 20 minutes at least once a day, sometimes twice a day for meditation. And oddly enough, she says she feels like she has more time instead of less to get things done when she meditates because she's more focused.

Connecting With Nature

Like many of us, Dawson finds that connecting with nature is an essential part of her wellness routine. The actress grew up on Coney Island in New York, so she says that she needs to be by the water, preferably the ocean, all the time. She lives on the beach in LA to make sure the water's always close.

Dawson also says that walks in the woods are an essential part of her physical and mental health. She likes to feel the breeze, hear the trees, and smell the soil.

(Mostly) Vegan Eating

Though it can be tough to eat well when she's got a busy schedule, Dawson says that she tries to prioritize healthy eating. She says it's been easier to do since she started dating Booker because he's vegan.

These days Dawson's diet is mostly raw and vegan. The majority of her meals are plant based. But she does still like fish and she doesn't stress if she wants to add some seafood to her diet as well. She says that a plant-based diet feels best for her body.

Prioritizing Self-Care

Clearly, Dawson takes her wellness routine pretty seriously. She makes the time for self-care regardless of what else is going on her in her life. Why is her wellness routine such a huge priority?

One major reason is that she's struggled with mental illness. A while ago she revealed that she had been abused as a child and developed mental health issues as a result of the trauma. She's also been open about her struggles with anxiety.

Dawson also says that her wellness routine is important because she wants to model self-care for her daughter.
