BlazeTV host, Jon Miller insinuated that the Oscars were not a celebration of storytelling and film making, but an excuse to bash Hollywood royalty for their choices in who wins an award.

Bong Joon-Ho's Parasite won Best Original Screenplay at the 2020 Academy Awards on Sunday. After the South Korean director gave his speech in his native language, with the help of an English translator, Miller tweeted out:

“A man named Bong Joon Ho wins #Oscar for best original screenplay over Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and 1917. Acceptance speech was: ‘GREAT HONOR. THANK YOU.’ Then he proceeds to give the rest of his speech in Korean. These people are the destruction of America.”

Miller replied to his tweet an hour later, to say:

“These people” are obviously not Koreans but those in Hollywood awarding a foreign film that stokes flames of class warfare over 2 films I thought were more deserving simply to show how woke they are. That should be clear from the rest of what I tweeted about tonight’s production.

Chrissy Teigen and John Legend publicly called Miller out for his ignorance, shortly after the tweets went up.

Teigen tweeted:

“What a dumb f--king tool you are, your family is embarrassed. At gatherings they’re literally like ‘how’s Jon doing that little dumb f--k tool’ and everyone goes ‘yeah we don’t care he’s a f--king dumb s--t’ – come say hi if you’re out tonight… going as hard as your dick got watching joker.”

Teigen's husband responded to Miller's tweet, saying:

Do they pay you for these dumb takes or is this something you do for fun

When Will People Learn Not To Mess With Chrissy Teigen?

Of course, there was anger towards Teigen for using such strong language:

One user called her out: Love the sentiment and support. But would you read this tweet to your kids? So tired of the foul language. Make your point, in family friendly words.

Teigen replied: I actually just got home and read it to them! they loved it, especially the sock puppets!

Many of Teigen's fans then backed her up, claiming that Twitter was not at all meant for "toddlers", and that many of them there were adults, or would rather their children be exposed to foul language over racism.

Honestly, not a terrible pick.

Parasite, the Film

Parasite is a 2019 South Korean dark comedy with a touch of thrill. It's directed by Bong Joon-Ho, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Han Jin-won.

The plot of the movie follows the Kim family, living in a basement apartment (known as a banjiha). They have low-paying jobs that are temporary and struggle to make ends meet. One day, the family receives a "scholar's rock", which is thought to promise wealth to whoever possesses it.

The Kim family gets hired by the wealthy Park family, and they begin to infilitrate the Parks home, recommending each other's services. They pose as unrelated but sophisticated and skilled workers.

When the Parks leave home for a camping trip, the Kim family revels in the luxuries the Parks have. The Park family returns home early due to a rainstorm and catches the Kims trying to clean up the house. They escape, go home, find their apartment flooded and have to sleep on a gym floor with a ton of other people who were misplaced.

Somewhere in it all, there was a brawl and someone was mortally wounded and later dies. This then causes a member of the Kim family to stab Mr. Park and flee the scene.

Whether Miller meant that tweet to be racist or not, it definitely came across as racist. And there's nothing he can do to really change that.

Perhaps Miller should invest in a sensitivity editor, or just you know, show his tweets to somebody who's not a flaming racist, before he hits send.

On another note, I cannot believe somebody lectured Teigen on the language of her tweets. If you don't want to read it, then don't. Simply close the tweet and move on. We're all adults.
