Earlier Monday morning, Vanessa Bryant took to Instagram to express how she is really doing following the tragic loss of her husband, Kobe Bryant, and her 13-year-old daughter, Gianna Bryant. Though Vanessa has remained resilient and strong in the face of such a horrific incident, she has now allowed herself to be a bit more vulnerable with her struggles as she grieves and attempts to move forward with her life. Vanessa still has three other daughters, whom she shared with Kobe, to care for, and she intends to do her best for all of them.
The 37-year-old mother of four opened up her emotional post with, “My brain refuses to accept that both Kobe and Gigi are gone,” the 37-year-old mother of four wrote. “I can’t process both at the same time. It’s like I’m trying to process Kobe being gone but my body refuses to accept my Gigi will never come back to me. It feels wrong.” Vanessa’s emotions seeped through the post, bring users and readers to tears as they read the heartfelt and honest words.
She continued by saying, “Why should I be able to wake up another day when my baby girl isn’t being able to have that opportunity?! I’m so mad…She had so much life to live. Then I realize I need to be strong and be here for my 3 daughters.”
Though Vanessa allowed herself to express how difficult it is without her baby Gigi, she also highlighted her strength in her desire to continue for her remaining children. Vanessa also paired the post with a video.
The video, which was taken from “Slam” Magazine, showed some of Gianna’s basketball highlights from her time at the Mamba Sports Academy. The video also featured clips of Gianna’s father, Kobe, coaching the team.
Vanessa continued her post, writing, “[I’m] mad I’m not with Kobe and Gigi but thankful I’m here with Natalia, Bianka and Capri. I know what I’m feeling is normal. It’s part of the grieving process.” Out of her surviving children, Natalia is the oldest, at 17, and Capri is the youngest, being only 7 months old.
Vanessa concluded the raw tribute with, “I just wanted to share in case there’s anyone out there that’s experienced a loss like this…God I wish they were here and this nightmare would be over. Praying for all of the victims of this horrible tragedy. Please continue to pray for all.”
While Vanessa was able to express her pain and sadness at the loss of her beloved husband and daughter, she has continued to prove her strength and support as she attempts to carry on the legacy left by Kobe and Gianna.
