The 92nd Academy Awards took place last night, and it was truly an exciting event. Joker led the pack with a whopping 11 nominations, but the night ultimately belonged to Parasite which ended up winning for Best Picture. Little Women, 1917, and Ford v. Joaquin and Brad Win Big

It was a big night for Joaquin Phoenix, who ended up taking home the coveted Best Actor in a Leading Role award. Joaquin, of course, had delivered a phenomenal performance in Joker, which is what won him the award. As for Best Supporting Actor, that honor went to Brad Pitt for his role in Once Upon A Time...In Hollywood. Both actors mentioned family members in their acceptance speeches -- Joaquin quoted his late brother, River Phoenix, whereas Brad dedicated his award to his children.

Laura and Renee Represent the Women

Though women were notably snubbed in many categories this year, Laura Dern and Renee Zellweger took home gold for Best Supporting Actress and Best Actress in a Lead Role, respectively. Laura won for her performance in Marriage Story, while Renee made an amazing comeback with her performance in Judy, which ultimately won her the coveted award. Both women were projected to win their awards, as they both won Golden Globes in the same categories. And, obviously, these wins are much deserved!

Bong Joon-Ho and Parasite Sweep the Awards

While there were plenty of exciting wins during the ceremony, none of them quite top the excitement around Parasite. Bong Joon-Ho's breakout hit not only won for Best Picture, but it made history as being the first foreign film to ever win in the category. Bong also won the coveted awards for Best Directing and Best Original Screenplay. Though there was speculation that 1917 or Once Upon A Time...In Hollywood would likely win for Best Picture, Parasite became a clear front-runner, especially after it won big at the Golden Globes.

More Special Moments and Wins

There was no shortage of special moments at the Oscars. Some other notable wins include Taika Waititi's win for Best Adapted Screenplay for Jojo Rabbit, 1917's win for Visual Effects and Sound Mixing, and Hair Love for Short Animated Film. The 2020 Academy Awards were a truly fun night, with performances from Janelle Monae, Eminem, and Cynthia Erivo. And, of course, stars certainly lived it up at the after parties.
