‘Vanderpump Rules’ star Katie Maloney attended a pre-Oscars event over the weekend with several of her co-stars, including Stassi Schroeder and Brittany Cartwright, and promptly faced backlash online not only for her odd outfit choice, but also her supposed weight gain.
After pairing an off-the-shoulder black blazer and gold pleated skirt with a black bow in her hair, Maloney attracted negative attention on Instagram and shared one of her haters’ hateful messages on her Instagram Stories for all to see.
In the screenshot of her hater’s message, the woman took aim at Katie’s size before slamming her personality and relationship with Tom Schwartz.
“See the problem is that we watched Katie from the beginning and half the issue is not the outfit but the weight gain which [makes] the [outfit] look a lot worse than [it] would look if she was in shape,” the person said, according to a report shared by Perez Hilton.
Although Katie didn’t respond to the comment, she circled it for her audience.
As the hater’s comment continued, the woman took aim at her marriage by suggesting Maloney mistreats husband Tom Schwartz.
“That, plus her mean personality give out a bad vibe for her. I feel bad for her husband knowing that he probably gets laid once a month and if… their relationship is my worst fear,” the woman stated.
Still, Maloney failed to offer a direct response to the mean comment. Instead, she allowed her Vanderpump Rules co-stars to have her back in regard to her outfit of choice.
After Schroeder slammed Maloney’s haters for “talking s**t” about Maloney’s Oscars look, which she described as “gorge alternative Parisian-chic” and compared to Sex and the City character Carrie Bradshaw, Cartwright, who will be seen marrying Jax Taylor on season eight, told her Instagram followers that Maloney looked amazing on Sunday night.
“She looks amazing!!! Idk what y’all are talking about what so ever! Her style is different and edgy and I love it!!!” Cartwright wrote.
In addition to Maloney, Schroeder, and Cartwright, Jax Taylor, Tom Schwartz, and Beau Clark were in attendance.
As fans may have seen, Maloney defended her decision to tell Doute she was “cut” during last week’s show, explaining that their relationship had become toxic at that point during filming due to the ongoing drama between Doute and her now-ex-boyfriend Brian Carter.
Vanderpump Rules season eight airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on Bravo.
