Childbirth is a rewarding rollercoaster experience that can threaten lives and leave the body looking and feeling different. This was the case for Gwyneth Paltrow, who had a lot to share in that area.
The “Iron Man” star opened up about the physical changes she experienced following the difficult delivery of her daughter Apple who is now 17-years-old.
An Emergency Delivery
As reported by PEOPLE, Paltrow told “Armchair Expert” hosts Dax Shepard and Monica Padman about how her body changed over the years, especially after birthing Apple in 2004.
The “Web Therapy” star parents 15-year-old Moses, whom she had with her ex-husband Chris Martin. She is also a stepmother to the two children of her husband, Brad Falchuk.
The star said she underwent two caesareans in the Monday podcast and her daughter’s birth was an emergency. “We almost died,” she added.
Paltrow noticed a big scar across her body that was absent before childbirth, saying, “it’s not that it’s bad, or you want to judge it, but it was a shock.”
“The Politician” actress said she was glad her pregnancy happened before the popularity of social media because of the pressure on new moms to snap back to their former figure.
Her Lookalike Daughter
Apple has grown up to be her mother’s twin, and Paltrow is full of love and admiration for the teenager. The Blast reported that the “Goop” founder showered praises on her eldest offspring during her 17th birthday.
Paltrow took to Instagram with a photo of her lookalike, expressing her surprise over the “brilliant and hardworking” celebrant’s new age.
The actress praised her daughter’s originality which she respected, adding that Apple was inspiring and cool.

Paltrow told PEOPLE that there was a time her daughter thought of her as a “total loser” and did not want her advice on anything, but things have positively changed.
The pair have collaborated on several projects, including a funny TikTok video featured on the official Goop Instagram page.
Her Major Lifestyle Change
The pandemic pushed a lot of people towards making drastic changes, and Paltrow was no exception.
The Blast reported that the mother-of-two spoke on how her COVID-19 infection in 2020 made her prioritize her health further.
During an October episode of the “Dear Chelsea” podcast, Paltrow said she “started to feel so good” after following her doctor’s recommendation to cease drinking alcohol.
The “Goop Lab With Gwyneth Paltrow” star said she loves the taste of alcohol but has reduced her intake to occasional sips for what she calls a “long year.”
Paltrow added that she is unsure the reduction of her alcohol consumption will be a permanent change.
