Halle Berry Finally Getting Recognition For Her Role As 'Catwoman' Almost 20 Years Later

Every high-profile actor has a career defining moment. Some of those moments are positive, and others not so much. You could make the argument though, that if you’re going to fail it’s better to do so in spectacular fashion. Halle Berry knows all too well about this. Her movie Catwoman was a huge winner at the Razzies in 2005. Even she’s come to terms with the fact that the film is pretty bad. However, she’s finding out these days that maybe it was just ahead of its time.
New Audiences Actually Like The Film
Maybe saying that new audiences actually like the film is a bit of a stretch. That being said, Halle did manage to find one tweet from a person who said that she actually liked Berry’s role in the movie. Maybe that was all she needed to be convinced that people who are now finding the film in their HBO Max catalog actually liked it. The fan in question tweeted,
"I'm sorry but Halle Berry ate her CAtwoman role up, idk why ppl hate that movies, it's camp. I love it,"
Where Was The Love In 04?
Again Berry claims that she’s gotten multiple shout-outs with Catwoman love. Although it seems hard to believe, these days we don’t even know what to expect. Barry clapped back at the fan who gave her the shout-out on Twitter. Saying that she’s seeing a lot of Catwoman love, and wondering where those people were 17 years ago. Potentially not alive, or not old enough to watch the movie it seems! Maybe Halle’s Catwoman is getting a bit of a boost thanks to the hype that has been building around Robert Pattinson’s The Batman. Zoe Kravitz is going to take on the role of Catwoman in that film.

Would Halle Berry Considering Reprising Her Role As Catwoman?
Apparently getting actors who used to play a character to put the super suit back on is one of the trends in the current superhero movie world. With the likes of Micheal Keaton coming back to play Batman. Another example, is the whole mess that they got going on at Marvel with the new Spider-Man film. Halle Berry isn’t as interested though in putting the Catwoman outfit back on. She was asked about this recently in an interview with Variety, and she mentioned,
"Probably not, I think I'm good."
Comparing Her Role As Catwoman To Black Panther
When Berry went on stage to collect her Razzie award for her role as Catwoman she mentioned,
“'I want to thank Warner Bros. for casting me in this piece of s*** movie!”
She also didn’t go down alone and acknowledged the bad performances of her cast mates. Over the years she’s really taken the criticism for her performance in this role in stride. Back in 2018 when she had to present Black Panther with an award she took the opportunity to bring up this film saying,
"Each story builds on the next. It's like that old saying goes: behind every Black Panther is a great black Catwoman!"
