Every year during the Oscars, the Academy honors the members of the acting community who died during the past year. Sunday night's show was no different, with a tribute to Kobe Bryant leading the way for the segment.

But several actors were glaringly omitted, including Luke Perry, who died last March after suffering a stroke.

It's unclear how or why this oversight happened, but fans aren't ready to let it go. They flocked to social media to express their outrage over it.

"Wait a minute? Let me see if I'm understanding this...the Oscars had a memoriam and somehow Luke Perry was excluded despite that he's in one of the nominated films?!" one said, referencing Perry's cameo in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, which was nominated for 10 Oscars.

"shame on the academy for not including luke perry in the “in memoriam” tribute. seeing as ‘once upon a time in hollywood’ was the last film he made before he passed AND it was up for best picture, I have no words other than I’m disappointed," another wrote.

"Excluding Luke Perry from the Oscars in Memoriam was disrespectful. He appeared in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood which was nominated for Best Picture. Quentin Tarantino personally selected Luke to be in his movie so why not mention him?" someone else asked.

"A shame that the @Oscars2020_ neglected to include Luke Perry, and my favs @reneauberjonois and Tim Conway (and a few others) in the In Memoriam segment. While all three may be best known for their TV work, they each did plenty of film," another said, noting that several important actors were left out of the segment.

"Really, who gives a crap that #LukePerry was left out of the #Oscars memorial clip reel? We don't need a momentary clip to remind us of who #LukePerry was & the roles he performed that gave us entertainment. He'll be remembered when many Oscar winners are barely footnotes," another fan offered.

Perry died on March 4, 2019. His publicist released a statement about the news at the time:

"Actor Luke Perry, 52, passed away today after suffering a massive stroke. He was surrounded by his children Jack and Sophia, fiancée Wendy Madison Bauer, ex-wife Minnie Sharp, mother Ann Bennett, step-father Steve Bennett, brother Tom Perry, sister Amy Coder, and other close family and friends."

"The family appreciates the outpouring of support and prayers that have been extended to Luke from around the world, and respectfully request privacy in this time of great mourning. No further details will be released at this time," the statement concluded.
