After having shared an on-off relationship for ten years, Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth finally called it quits for good when the actor had filed for divorce in August 2019.

And once the announcement was made, it appeared Miley was wasting no time in getting rid of the Malibu home she bought for $2.5 million, which is located just minutes away from Liam’s crib down the street.

When the couple reconciled in 2014, Miley and Liam wanted to live closer to one another, so the “Wrecking Ball” singer went ahead and made the multi-million dollar purchase.

In any case, only four days before their divorce was settled on Jan. 28, her former home in Malibu had been purchased at a fundamentally lower cost of just $1.7 million, thusly losing almost $1 million from the deal.

It’s unclear what Miley’s rush was to sell the property, yet given that she's no longer with Liam and has since proceeded onward with pop star Cody Simpson, there's no motivation behind why she'd need to return to the Malibu house where she would have imparted a lot of recollections to Hemsworth.

So, while it’s very likely that the former Disney Channel star simply wanted to get rid of the Malibu home because of its association with Liam, it was also revealed that the previous wildfires had affected the property’s value due to the damage it suffered from the ordeal.

It’s unknown how significant the damages were, but it would definitely explain the drastic price cut in Miley’s asking price. Either way, however, she’s no longer the property owner and has still walked away with a cool $1.7 million.

Following their split over the summer of 2019, sources revealed that the former couple’s relationship was heavily affected by the fact that Liam wanted a traditional marriage. But after photos of Cyrus kissing her girl pal Kaitlynn Carter had surfaced, the "Paranoia" star wasted no time in pulling the plug and subsequently file for divorce.

And it seems that was the best decision for both of them. Miley wasn’t happy being married to Liam and he didn’t agree with the way she’d been living her life - particularly since the Aussie hunk didn’t feel as if his ex was taking their marriage seriously.

An insider told Hollywood Life: “They split because [Liam] realized as he got older and grew up, they weren’t having a traditional marriage and relationship and that was hard for him and it wasn’t working for Miley, either.”

The Couple Had A Prenup

Given that Miley and Liam had a prenup in place, settling their divorce wasn’t as difficult as one would have expected it to be. From what’s been gathered, Miley kept the animals and the property, according to their prenuptial agreement.

And despite losing almost $1 million selling her Malibu home opposite Liam’s crib, Cyrus isn’t dwelling too much given that she just recently inked a worldwide deal with William Morris Endeavor’s talent agency after having departed CAA.

The “Can’t Be Tamed” hitmaker is gearing up for the release of her upcoming seventh studio album, “She Is Miley Cyrus,” which include her previous singles “Mother’s Daughter” and “Slide Away.”
