Porsha Williams has been trying to work things out with her cheating fiance Dennis McKinley, and though she has publicly stressed that their relationship is in a better place, they aren’t ready to get married just yet.
Dennis had broken Porsha’s trust when he reportedly enjoyed an affair with multiple women in the midst of the reality star’s pregnancy with their 11-month-old daughter Pilar Jhena.
And though Porsha went on to call it quits with the 43-year-old soon after, the two were able to work things out to the point where Williams agreed to take him back.
The aftermath of the scandal had been well documented on the latest series of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” and even though Porsha had somewhat forgiven Dennis, she no longer trusted him the way that she used to.
And while Dennis has publicly apologized to not only Porsha but also her family, there is still a lot more that needs to be done on his end before the 38-year-old can even consider the idea of walking down the aisle again.
“They’re together, happy and engaged but aren’t wedding planning really at the moment,” a source revealed. “They’re just working on becoming as solid as they can again before walking back down that road.”
If it’s not for the sake of her storyline on the show, Porsha has opted not to speak too much about her relationship with Dennis in public. When she made an appearance on Andy Cohen’s “Watch What Happens Live!” last month, the mother-of-one hinted that she wasn’t comfortable talking about her relationship problems.
She’s hoping that with fewer people intervening, she will be able to work on her differences with Dennis and see whether they still stand the chance of tying the knot in the near future. But she’s refraining from talking about her man in interviews to avoid the chances of other opinions having an effect on her healing process.
“Porsha and Dennis are keeping their relationship and the ins and outs of it a little more private now that they’ve reconciled but they seem to be doing well,” an insider gushed.
“They just don’t want people prying too much. It’s taken a lot of communication, but she’s really working on trusting him again.” Of course, it’s all easier said than done, especially with cameras following their everyday lives.
But since so much has already been shared on television, Porsha and Dennis are keeping the rest of their relationship troubles away from TV to work on those issues through the help of a therapist.
“It’s been shown a lot on the show, but they’ve been in therapy. Her family had more trouble forgiving him than she did, but they love and support Porsha and want her to be happy.”
“The Real Housewives of Atlanta” continues Sundays at 8 PM.
