“I want to be on whatever planet Diane Keaton is on right now,” Said the twitter account for Betches.
Keaton has social media in a stir because of her 2020 Academy Awards outfit that consisted of a black and white flannel coat, a large belt, small rimmed glasses, and a large circle brimmed hat. Many people saw the outfit and took to Twitter to give their opinions on the simple layered look that graced The Academy Award’s black and gold stage.
“I swear Diane Keaton has refused to purchase one item of clothing since 1986, and I don’t blame her. Classic clothing is not old, only the events that change…” said one Twitter user commenting on the look.
Another said, “Why does Diane Keaton always dress like two [little people] standing on each other’s shoulders in a trench coat so they could impersonate Diane Keaton at the bank?”
“My girlfriend and i are keeping a tally of gay rights for our oscars pool. so far we’ve got 2: idina menzel hitting the high note and the presence of diane keaton in a hat,” journalist Jill Gutowitz said.
Many people jokes and many more defended the actress. “#DianeKeaton has been wearing men’s-style clothing for a long time. She is confident, she bucks gender norms, and she looks damn fabulous. So maybe don’t make fun of the 74-year-old woman who is comfortable & beautiful in her own skin,” one person said.
Another said in defense, “I didn’t watch the Oscars for the first time since 1973 but if you tried to make fun of Diane Keaton, I blocked you.”
Some of my personal favorites include this one from a twitter user, “Diane Keaton wore whatever she’d wear on a regular Sunday and said ‘sure I’ll go to your little celebration or whatever.'”
Paula Poundstone also had a good comment that also made fun of the audio issues that the Oscars were having shortly after Keaton’s appearance, “The sound is going in and out on this music number. I think Diane Keaton put some of her coats over this bands’ speakers.”

“We do the Oscars to see Diane Keaton wear something belted and haunting,” expressed one person on social media.
Another Twitter user loved Diane and Keanu so much she had a suggestion, “Give the producer who thought to pair Diane Keaton & Keanu Reeves on stage a raise. Also maybe just let them host the #oscars?”
All in all, Diane Keaton didn’t win any Oscars that night but she sure did win Twitter for her personality and wonderful outfit that left people talking.
