Bombshell Stories
Details about the book that have already come out include her now non-existent friendship with former co-anchor Matt Lauer. She also spoke about how she wasn’t the nicest person to other women because she felt threatened.
So, what more could she talk about? Oh, that’s right, her awkward date with King that no one really needs to know about but here we are. Couric explained that she was in her late twenties and apparently desperate because she said “yes to everyone, even men I was certain would never be the father of my children. In other words, even Larry King.”
Couric admitted that she only said yes because King because, “Larry was already a big player on and off screen, with a slew of ex-wives. A pretty fascinating character. I was eager to pick his brain.”
‘Veal Poached In Chicken Broth’
The former anchor further claimed that she knew King wasn’t for her because of the old man mean he ordered. “He ordered veal poached in chicken broth and ate it with gusto,” she quipped. “Nothing gets a single gal’s juices flowing quite like a man slurping a heart-healthy dish and splattering it all over the napkin tucked into his collar!”
After the meal he apparently tried to take her back to his place and that is where she drew the line. “Mayday! Mayday! Dear Cosmo: My dinner date is an aging horn dog and he’s detouring me to his place,” she joked quickly admitted, yet ended up back at his place anyway.
Tongue-y Kisser
Unfortunately, for Couric she didn’t get out in enough time and describes the incident with a bit of disgust In “Going There”.” I was trying to figure out an exit strategy when suddenly — boom! The lunge. The tongue. The hands. The whole scene was such a cliche, I began to laugh and gently pushed him away,” she admits.
She claims she ultimately told him she wanted someone closer to her own age. King is 24 years older than Couric. King, always the class act took the hint and immediately got up and grabbed his keys to take her home.
No Hard Feelings
According to Couric, in years to come the two remained friends and even have a “big laugh” when they would run into one another. She joked that King could have had a hard time a hard time missing out on a relationship with her.
Pointing out that one of the things he said to her at the end of the date was,“when I like, I really like”. She goes on to state, “Larry and I were one and done,” but their evening was unforgettable and forged a lasting friendship as awkward as it was in the moment. Couric’s book is available now.
