For the pop sensation and actress, Selena Gomez, life hasn't exactly been easy.

Sure, she's had the fame and fortune many people aspire for, but she's also had her fair share of setbacks and bumps along the way. For one, she's dealt with the very serious autoimmune disease, Lupus, while also undergoing a kidney transplant.

If that wasn't enough, the star has had bouts of severe anxiety and depression that came along with being in an emotionally abusive relationship with Justin Bieber and the subsequent intense scrutiny of the fame associated.

These kinds of hardships can easily break someone down, taking hit after hit. But for Gomez, she's taking each in stride and is living with absolutely no regrets. In a recent interview with Dazed Magazine, she was asked about there being any regrets in her life, thus far.

"No, no. I mean, there are certain things which I wish hadn’t happened to me. But without them I wouldn’t have been the voice I am for people who have gone through the same thing," Gomez began.

"You know, going through the lupus thing and the kidney transplant, I was dealing with fame and with being run-down, dealing with depression, anxiety and other mental health issues that I had. It was all a bit confusing."

For Gomez, the realization of the lyrics and what she'd been through clicked in her head like a lightbulb turning on. "When “Lose You to Love Me” came out, I stood back and had this moment, like, ‘Oh… this is a huge reason why I’ve pushed myself through this. This is why," Gomez said.

The hit song from her Rare album acted as sping board for her moving on to the next chapter in life, one that she hopes will fully transform her, along with helping others struggling with similar maladies and mental health issues.

"I was able to release a song that hopefully helps to heal some people, or just lets them know they are not alone. I was actually letting it go personally and when that happened something inside of me just left," the singer shared.

"And that’s why I am grateful for the chapters of my life. I’m not saying that it’s gonna be easy from now on, but I have a lot more strength and a lot more courage and a bigger voice to stand up for what I deserve," Gomez concluded.

Gomez also just recently announced the formation of her new and innovative lifestyle line she's calling Rare Beauty, which will take on some novel development strategies.

Unlike other brands from the likes of Kim Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, or Kylie Jenner, Gomez's Rare Beauty line will work with the 167 million Instagram followers she has to find out what works best for them and what they like. It's Gomez's hope that it will bring people together to improve stereotypes of mental health issues, no matter what background, nationality, or ethnicity.
