Things seem to finally be calming down between Miley Cyrus and now ex-husband Liam Hemsworth. The former couple engaged in quite a bit of back and forth, blaming each other for their marriage falling apart before seeming to move on with new partners.
They have now finalized their divorce proceedings are officially able to put this all behind them for good, which Cyrus seems more than ready to do. The singer’s first step was to get rid of her Malibu home.
Cyrus cited the California wildfires of 2018 as a bonding moment between her and Hemsworth. The Black Mirror actor said the incident had helped to change their perspectives and show them what really mattered in life. She said this led to their wedding in late 2018.
Hemsworth had essentially become a hero in Cyrus’ eyes when he saved all of her 16 animals from the impending fires. She said he had chased animals into crates and carried them out of harm’s way in his truck.
Less than a year after their intimate wedding, Cyrus and Hemsworth’s relationship seemed to implode. An announcement was made that the two had separated shortly before photos were leaked of Cyrus kissing Kaitlynn Carter while on vacation in Italy. Hemsworth filed for divorce 11 days later.
The divorce was officially finalized last month, leaving them free to move forward and put their marriage behind them. Both are in new relationships, Cyrus with musician Cody Simpson and Hemsworth with model Gabriella Brooks.
Hemsworth has kept a bit of a low profile since his split with Cyrus, while the singer has been said to be avoiding any updates about her ex. Cyrus is reportedly taking time to heal with yoga and self-care rather than keeping up with Hemsworth’s new relationship.
Despite efforts to stay out of each other’s paths, Hemsworth and Cyrus both attended the same pre-Oscars party in California on Friday. Both were said to have come to the event without their new partners.
Though the dust has just barely settled in the divorce case, Cyrus has already set to work clearing her life of any clutter that could keep her connected to the past.
Cyrus Malibu mansion was located immediately next door to Hemsworth’s own home. The “We Can’t Stop” singer paid $2.5 million but was only able to recently sell it for $1.7 million, losing nearly a million dollars. Reports say damage caused to the property in the wildfires are likely the reason for this financial loss.
