Brooklyn Nets star, Kyrie Irving, has been a huge trending topic this month. This is due to him making it known that he has no intentions on getting vaccinated, against COVID-19.

A huge issue here is that Irving isn't able to join his Nets teammates, without being vaccinated. He isn't allowed to do things such as participating in practices, as well as games. For Irving, this is something that he was fully prepared to do, as well as missing out on millions of dollars, in-game checks. At this point, it doesn't seem that he is willing to budge, and even get a first dose, of a COVID vaccine.

Floyd Mayweather Stands With Irving

On Monday, boxing legend, Floyd Mayweather, made it clear, that he sides with Irving. He took to social media, to put out a video, explaining why. He cited how with the COVID vaccines, they were initially made to be optional, but now, they are being mandated, and limiting what American citizens can do.

"Choice is defined as an act of selecting or making a decision when faced with two or more possibilities. To my understanding, America gave us the choice to take the vaccine or not take the vaccine originally," said Mayweather. "As time moves on, that choice is gradually being stripped from us. Limiting the jobs we can do, places we can go, and activities we can perform. Trying to beat us into submission of what they say is best for us."

"It's sad people are hated, punished, teased, and discriminated for not taking the vaccine, for making their own choice, standing up for what they not only think is right, but know is right for them and their families. I am Pro Choice. A person should be free to make the decision best suited for themself. If we can't make our own decisions we are not truly free."

Protestors In Brooklyn Also Supported Irving

Prior to the Nets' home opener on Sunday, at the Barclays Center, protestors surrounded the front of the venue. They held up signs that supported Irving, as well as voicing their disapproval of New York City's vaccine mandate. They all soon started to try to enter the venue, but were being fought off by the arena's security. The situation eventually ended up being deescalated, and the Nets went on to play against the Charlotte Hornets, which was a game that they lost.
