Prince Harry and Meghan Markle caused a lot of talk and speculation after their shocking announcement that they decided to step away from the Royal Palace. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will no longer be senior members of the Royal Family.
While this does mean that Harry and Meghan are no longer working Royals — they have also given up their His and Her Royal Highness titles — it does not mean they are done making appearances and aiding charity.
Duchess Meghan left the United Kingdom for Canada, settling in with baby Archie Harrison shortly after the exit announcement. She has already begun to put in charitable appearances in her new home.
Last month, the Duchess of Sussex made her first public appearance in Canada, a surprise drop-in with an organization that works with underprivileged girls. Meghan had tea with the people of Justice For Girls and talked about climate change and social justice. The organization’s co-director said they were “moved” by Meghan’s appearance.
Along with her surprise appearances, Duchess Meghan is attached to do voiceover work for Disney that will ultimately aid charities that work against elephant poaching.
Meghan was given this opportunity after Prince Harry pitched her voiceover talents to Disney boss Bob Iger. A video circulated of the event depicting Harry chatting up Iger, telling the exec his wife is very talented in the field and that she would be interested in working with Disney on a project. Iger immediately expressed his own interest in such a collaboration.
Despite keeping herself busy with other charity events and projects, Duchess Meghan reportedly missed a couple of her supposedly planned appearances, sparking criticism.
Meghan was reportedly supposed to call into a conference call meeting between Prince Harry and the Queen and a few other Royals to discuss their future. Harry and Meghan reportedly decided it was not necessary for her to do so. Other reports recently indicated Meghan was supposed to be present at the dinner alongside Harry, but was absent at the event.
According to recent sources, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex just attended their first appearance together. The couple reportedly surprised attendants of an exclusive J.P. Morgan event at the 1 Hotel in Miama’s South Beach.
Sources say the appearance was planned and that there was a lot of security on the premises to keep the Duke and Duchess safe. Harry and Meghan kept things lowkey, sneaking in a private entrance and leaving before dessert after Meghan introduced her husband for his speech.
