Since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle decided to relinquish their roles as senior members of the royal family and move to North America, there has been much speculation as to the exact reason or reasons that the couple did.
For some, they believed that the negative attention from the British media acted as the impetus for them to leave, while others thought that Markle simply didn’t want to live within the constraints of the royal family and its associated affiliation with the aristocracy.
Well, this week Prince Harry and Meghan made their first public appearance since the decision and we might have confirmation for their reasoning.
A source confirms reports that Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan travelled to Miami yesterday to attend a private @jpmorgan event. Only Harry spoke in front of guests (neither gave a keynote).

Prince Harry and Meghan made their first public appearance since the ‘Megxit’ decision in Miami at a JP Morgan event being held at the 1 Hotel in South Beach. Security was very tight during the event, allowing for the former royal couple to sneak in without much attention and then leave before dessert was served.
This isn’t to say that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were incognito. Quite the contrary. Markle introduced Prince Harry as a keynote speaker where he shared very candid bits of information regarding their decision to leave the United Kingdom.
Royal Reporters & Trolls: "They need to get real jobs and stop living off of the Crown!!"
*News breaks that they may have been paid to speak in Miami.*
Royal Reporters & Trolls: "How disgusting that they might be getting paid!!"

Page Six who had sources report to them shared that during the speech Prince Harry gave, he said that “While it has been very difficult on him and Meghan, he does not regret their decision to step down as senior royals because he wants to protect his family.”
“He does not want Meghan and their son Archie to go through what he did as a child,” the source continued, referencing his brother, Prince William, and him having to deal with the untimely and tragic death of their mother, Princess Diana, as she died in a car accident fleeing the paparazzi.
The source also spoke about the other components of the Duke of Sussex’s speech, stating that he really delved into the influence his mother had on him, as well as, how his mental health has been affected since she was killed years ago.
“Harry spoke about mental health and how he has been in therapy for the past few years to try to overcome the trauma of losing his mother,” they said. “He talked about how the events of his childhood affected him and that he has been talking to a mental health professional.”
On January 19th, just days after he made the announcement on Instagram and had met with his brother, Prince William, father, Prince Charles, and Queen Elizabeth, he made a formal statement sharing the couple’s intentions.
“It brings me great sadness that it has come to this. The decision that I have made for my wife and I to step back, is not one I made lightly. It was so many months of talks after so many years of challenges,” Prince Harry said. “And I know I haven’t always gotten it right, but as far as this goes, there really was no other option. What I want to make clear is we’re not walking away, and we certainly aren’t walking away from you.”
