Oprah Winfrey is coming to the defense of her dear friend, Gayle King, after King faced immense backlash due to comments that she made about the late Kobe Bryant while conducting an interview on CBS. During her live appearance on “Today”, Oprah broke down in tears over the treatment that King has been receiving since making a remark on the 2003 sexual assault allegations brought against Kobe Bryant. The charges against Bryant were dropped and the case was dismissed in 2004.

While in conversation with “Today” hosts, Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager, Oprah simply said that King is, “not doing well.”
Winfrey continued by saying, “She is not doing well because she now has death threats and has to now travel with security. She is feeling very much attacked.”
She also added that King apparently has not slept in two nights.
“She’s not doing well and feels that she was put in a really terrible position…Because that interview had already ran and in the context of the interview, everyone seemed fine, including Lisa Leslie,” Winfrey explained.
While King threw CBS under the bus for airing a “misleading” clip of the full interview, CBS recently released a statement on the issue saying that King, “conducted a thoughtful, wide-ranging interview with Leslie and that the clip that was posted did not reflect the nature and tone of the full interview.”
A spokesperson for CBS also stated, “We are addressing the internal process that led to this and changes have already been made.”
King had even said that felt her “CBS This Morning” bosses were “salacious” in their promotion of the clip.
Oprah’s defense of King comes just a couple of days after celebrities like Snoop Dogg and 50 Cent released scathing Instagram videos about the talkshow host.
In his viral rant, Snoop said, “Gayle King, out of pocket for that s–t, way out of pocket.
What do you gain from that? I swear to God, we the worst, we the f–king worst. We expect more from you, Gayle, don’t you hang out with Oprah?
Why you all attacking us, we your people. You ain’t coming after f–king Harvey Weinstein asking him dumb-ass questions. I get sick of you all …”
He concluded his attack with,
“I wanna call you one … Funky, dog-haired b-tch, how dare you try and tarnish my motherf–king homeboy’s reputation, punk motherf–ker.
Respect the family and back off,
b-tch, before we come get you.”
On “Today” Winfrey seemed to address some of these harsh attacks by stating, “Anybody can criticize anything, but the misogynistic vitriol to the point where it is dangerous to be in the streets alone…Because it’s not just the people who are attacking. It’s the other people who feel like they can take that message and do whatever they want.”
