Kim Kardashian didn’t mince her words when she dubbed her $60 million Calabasas mansion “minimalist.” The 39-year-old reality star and makeup mogul recently opened up her sprawling home to Architectural Digest, also sharing pics to her Instagram.
Summing the place up? It’s stark white and empty AF.
Kim and husband Kanye West originally purchased their home for $20 million, however extreme renovations and a glitz-up now see the property worth an estimated $60 million, per Kim’s mom Kris.
Twitter has been having fun. Namely, Photoshopping random stuff (and Taylor Swift) into Kim’s home because it just can’t take how empty it is.
Kim’s Instagram photos showed a pristine home. Curved surfaces contrast angular ones amid soft whites, egg, chairs, and inlays, with large hallways and living rooms appearing bigger on the concept of space than anything else.
“The one thing Kanye and I had in common was our preference for a neutral palette. I love the simplicity of the design. Everything in the outside world is so chaotic. I like to come into a place and immediately feel the calmness,” Kim said.”
For Twitter? It’s a little too simple.
Twitter has been busy. Namely, users have been having a little fun with Photoshop, playing around with various concepts to fill the “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” star’s home.
One user took to Twitter by Shopping in a cat and some plants. Another even added photos of Taylor Swift in.
As to the vast and empty hallways, Kanye stated that they’re put to good use.
“The kids ride their scooters down the hallways and jump around on top of the low Axel tables, which they use as a kind of stage. This house may be a case study, but our vision for it was built around our family,” the 42-year-old told Architectural Digest.
Another user decided to add some splashes of color to the KimYe home. Taking Kim’s standalone table and curved white stairs, this user added a blue and floral-patterned tablecloth, a large vase of sunflowers, a TV showing “Big Brother Brasil,” plus hanging yellow lamps, green floors, and a random dog for good measure.
While Kim and Kanye’s influence is in every room of the house, the power couple didn’t design the interiors themselves, hiring Belgian interior designer Axel Vervoordt.
Kanye himself admitted that the house was a “McMansion.”
There’s always a little something unexpected with Kim Kardashian. While the star did dub husband Kanye as a little out-there with his ideas: “Kanye would come up with the most far-out ideas, and I’d say, ‘This is not normal. We need drawers!’ I was the voice of functionality,” she said– Kim herself admitted that she’s never used their pool.
“I’ve never used our pool actually,” she said when asked. That said, the KKW Beauty founder does relax in the property’s hot tub.
Now, thanks to Twitter, Kim’s home is much fuller.
