While this year's halftime show was undoubtedly one of the best in history, featuring Jennifer Lopez and Shakira, as well as J Balvin and Puerto Rican singer Bad Bunny, many fans were left wondering why musical sensation Pitbull wasn't also on hand to blow the audience away. With the Super Bowl being in Miami, fans were certain that "Mr. 305" (Miami's area code) himself would be part of the halftime show, hoping that performance would be the icing on the cake.

There was a ton of Twitter chatter and buzz surrounding rumors that Pitbull was going to be performing during halftime. There was even a Change.org petition to have him host Super Bowl 54. Fans were tantalized by his response when asked by MSN about whether or not he would be involved in the halftime show. The artist's response was, "Am I in the halftime show? I’m involved in a lot of things that have to do with the Super Bowl. I’ll leave it at that. I plead the fifth that this question might incriminate me."

While Pitbull (real name Armando Christian Pérez) was not on hand to be performing at the halftime show, he was involved with the Super Bowl in another capacity. He performed in the pregame show, "Tailgate Tropicale," along with DJ Khaled, Dan + Shay and Yolanda Adams. So, "Mr. Worldwide" (another nickname that he goes by) was part of the festivities surrounding the day. He definitely got the crowd pumped up and ready for the big game between the Chiefs and the 49'rs.

Shakira told Billboard “To celebrate [the Latin] culture, to showcase it in a country where Latinos have also struggled a lot,. “I feel really humbled and with a great responsibility in my hands to represent the Latino community.”

Jennifer Lopez lauded the event after the Super Bowl, saying, "I was happy to stand up there with Shakira – two Latin women, two women, two working moms – who did one of the best Super Bowls of all time."
