2020 was certainly a tough year for a lot of people. Chrissy Teigen was one of those people. She went through a terrible experience right in the middle of the pandemic. Suffering the pregnancy loss of son Jack in September. Teigen recently spoke about the experience in an interview with Scary Mommy. Specifically about how she tried to make sure that her other children, Luna, 5, and Miles, 3 became aware of what was going on with their brother. She also revealed that the family has a unique way of keeping the memory of Jack alive.
The Pandemic Potentially Brought Her Other Children Closer To Their Brother
Chrissy Teigen recalled her entire family’s experience during her pregnancy. Due to the pandemic her other children perhaps were able to be more cognizant of the fact that they had a brother growing inside their mother’s tummy. She remembered that throughout that time she was having at home ultrasound sessions. Potentially she allowed her kids to come in and watch. Sadly, they were then aware that something’s were not right. Teigen mentioned,
“They saw the experience of the home ultrasounds and the nervousness of ‘This isn’t going well.”
Her 5-Year-Old Daughter Was Quick To Spot Something Was Up
The Chrissy’s court star also mentioned that her daughter was very much aware of what was going on with her. She saw Chrissy struggle through the pregnancy. Teigen recalls that there came a point where she and her husband John Legend realized that they were not going to be able to hide the truth from their daughter. Essentially they just stopped trying to mask the difficulties. At 5 years old the experience must not have been easy for Luna. Her mother recalled,
“it was me going to the bathroom, and Luna would be at the door when I came out, and she would say, ‘Are you bleeding still?'” Teigen went on to say “She knew everything. So there was going to be no escaping it, even if I wanted to.”
Realizing Their Brother Didn’t Make It
Having to speak to a five-year-old about death must be one of the hardest things for a parent to do. As Chrissy continued to tell this incredibly sad experience she remembered that it really wasn’t until the family got Jack’s ashes back that it hit her other two kids that their brother hadn’t made it. Teigen though mentioned that getting back her son’s ashes was an experience that was able to bring a sense of closure for her other children. She said,
“It wasn’t really until we got his ashes back, I think, that they started to be able to say, ‘OK, this happened. Here he is now. He didn’t make it.'” She would go on to add “It was something for them to be able to put a story to”

Not Sure How Long They’ll Keep Jack’s Ashes
For now the family keeps Jack’s ashes in a box, and even travels with the ashes. Teigen shared that her kids want to make sure that the family remembers baby Jack. She even mentioned that her kids will suggest that he might get thirsty, and they’ll proceed to put a glass a water next to the ashes. Chrissy admits that the behaviors may sound crazy to some people. For now though, that’s the way that her family has learned to cope with the loss! Ultimately she said they may release that ashes at some point. For now, they continue to travel with them.
