Now that the majority of their royal drama is over, it seems that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are finally settling into their new life in Canada. According to a friend who spoke with People, the couple is relieved to have time for more casual engagements, as well as simple things like hikes in the woods.

“This decision [to leave] had been weighing on them for a long time, and they are relieved to have it done,” the friend said.

According to the source, the relief is visible for both. “A weight has been lifted off their shoulders," the source continued.

Even as the couple have adjusted rather well to their new life, they're also aware of the sacrifices they've had to make following their announcement that they would be stepping back from the royal family. Those sacrifices include a renunciation of their royal titles, which means they can no longer be called royal highnesses, which apparently took a toll on Harry in particular.

Harry, who spent 10 years in the military, was also forced to renounce his honorary military titles. “The military was part of his upbringing and his life,” the source said. “He brought a lot to those guys and understood things. It is sad.”

Although those titles may have been accumulated over years, Harry is still glad that he made the move. “Harry doesn’t care about the titles,” the friend continued. “It doesn’t interest him; it never has.” Ultimately, he's thinking about his family first.

As for Meghan, she's made a deliberate decision to keep her circle of friends tight. “She’s keeping a low profile while things settle down,” a source said.

It's easy to keep a low-profile when you have a $14 million mansion to enjoy. That was the apparent price tag on the new home that the couple is living in in Vancouver. For now, then, it seems that the couple are content to enjoy a quiet life that's removed from the drama and responsibilities of the royal family.

“They both love to be outside and have been loving it there,” a friend claimed. “They are enjoying living a quiet life. They go for long walks, they do yoga, and Meghan cooks. They are real homebodies who love to chill out with Archie and the dogs.”

It seems that Meghan and Harry managed to pull off their exit rather gracefully. What's more, the decision is clearly working out for the couple, who are enjoying a life they never could have before.
