What Did Nick Lachey Get In The Divorce From Jessica Simpson?

The details that are included in Jessica Simpson's new memoir "Open Book" keep bringing back memories for a lot of people. Especially for those people who were fans of the MTV series Newly Weds. Her relationship with Nick Lachey played out in the public eye way before being a reality TV star was actually as profitable as it is now. It is safe to say that the couple did not make nearly as much money from that series as the Kardashian family makes these days. Still, Nick was able to walk away with a pretty penny.

At the time of their marriage, it did not take a genius to figure out that Jessica's pockets were quite a bit deeper than Nick's. Yet, the couple did not sign a prenuptial agreement in order to protect their own cash. At the time it was reported that Jessica's dad Joe Simpson tried to push Nick into a deal that was less than ideal for him.
Jessica recalls that it was actually she who was not OK with the idea. She thought it would be disrespectful for their relationship. Looking back, that was certainly a mistake.

At the time of the divorce, it was reported that Nick Lachey's net worth was valued at around 5 million dollars. On the other hand, Jessica was said to be worth around 35 million. Lachey was not looking forward to walking away empty-handed from the divorce. What ensued was a rough court battle.
When it was all set and done it was said at the time that Nick walked away with assets worth around 10 million. Not bad, these court battles don't usually end up with the man on the winning side.

These days there is certainly speculation as to who was actually the bigger star out of the couple when the reality show started. Lachey actually had a pretty decent following due to being the lead singer in a boy band called 98 degrees.
It was Simpson though who was certainly trending upward. The show definitely did quite a bit to cement her as a household name and pop culture icon. While his image as quite the serious character did not fare all that well for his career moving forward.

One of the things that have drawn fans to Simpson's new book was the promise that she would reveal a lot of details about her love life. Specifically, very intimate details to say the least. In her relationship with Lachey, Simpson claims that they actually slept together one last time before finalizing their divorce.
According to Simpson, it was actually at this point where she realized that she was making the right decision to split from Lachey. As that last time really meant nothing.
