'Rare Beauty:' Selena Gomez Announces New Beauty Line

The third solo album Rare, by Selena Gomez, was released just less than a month ago. Still flying on that high, Gomez isn't stopping her push forward. On Tuesday, February 4th, Gomez takes to social media to announce the creation of her new beauty line, Rare Beauty.

The Lose You to Love Me singer has over 167 million followers on Instagram, making this announcement a big deal for a lot of fans. She's been working on this new business for over two years now, and she's so excited to be able to start selling.

Gomez hopped on live, wearing a beautiful red lippy and some sparkling eyeshadow, both products available in her new line. She tells fans Rare Beauty will be launched online, exclusively with Sephora. The good news is, her products will also be available at select Sephora store locations.

This upcoming launch will unfortunately only be open to residents of the U.S., but she plans to extend globally in 2021. Gomes didn't share too much about the products available but did go into details about her company's reason and goals.

During her interaction on Instagram Live, Gomez looks over some makeup palettes and discusses how she wants to have as much input from fans as possible; she wants her fans pleased with the products she will offer in her new beauty line.

“Being rare is about being comfortable with yourself. I’ve stopped trying to be perfect, I just want to be me. I think Rare Beauty can be more than a beauty brand. I want us all to stop comparing ourselves to each other and just start embracing our own uniqueness.", she starts.

"You’re not defined by a photo, a like, or a comment. Rare Beauty isn’t about how other people see you, it’s about how you see yourself."

Gomez then continues on, acknowledging her yearning for a beauty product revolution, to change the way people view beauty. She says,

“Our mission is to shape conversations around beauty, self-acceptance, and mental health. We want to help people get more access to support and services, and help people feel more authentically connected to one another and less alone in the world.”

Fans flood social media with very mixed feelings on the upcoming release of Rare Beauty by the actress. One commenter on Twitter thinks,

"honestly.... another famous millionaire, known for SINGING, is trying to make some easy money and scam people into buying their makeup products..... the sad part is people will buy it JUST because her name is attached to it.... this is getting so repetitive #RareBeauty"

"I’m so proud of you for this amazing project! I’m so excited to see everything you have in store for us & all the things you’ve been working on in the last two years. WE’RE SO READY!! We all will look pretty but natural with your makeup. That’s so exciting", writes another.
