Although Ariana Grande is best known as one of the world's biggest and most talented pop stars, she is also an accomplished actress, having appeared in multiple television shows since she was 16. Grande has been away from the small screen for a while but this year she is set to return to acting by appearing in the acclaimed Showtime show Kidding alongside Jim Carrey. The first episode of the new season is set to premiere this Sunday, but Grande will not appear until episode 5, which airs later this month.

Grande took to Instagram last year to express his excitement at being part of the new season with a lengthy statement thanking Carrey for letting her be a part of the show.

Grande wrote, of Carrey: "nothing is crazier than getting to work with and spend time with someone whom you’ve idolized and adored since before you could speak. actually, what’s even crazier is discovering that person to be more special and warm and generous in person than you ever could’ve imagined."

Today, Grande shared a trailer for the new season on her Instagram, in which she makes a brief appearance. Grande is seen in a green dress emerging from behind a prop door midway through the trailer.

The new season of Kidding, which chronicles the misadventures of a children's entertainer named Jeff Pickles, has thus far been well received by critics, with TV Guide writing, "this gem of a show has so much to say about grief, heartbreak, healing, family, and more, and it does in such a beautiful blend of fantasy, melancholy, and truth."

So far, details have been kept relatively private about Grande's role in the show. She is playing a character called Piccola Grande who is nicknamed "the Pickle Fairy", and presumably works on the "Mr. Pickles Puppet Time" show hosted by Carrey's protagonist.

Grande's role on Kidding is implied to be comedic, with Carrey claiming that the pop star was "game to be silly and have fun" on set. Carrey spoke glowingly about his experiences with Grande, calling her "wonderful to be around".

Season 2 of Kidding will mark the first appearance by Grande in a television show since her stint as "Chanel #2" on Ryan Murphy's sorority horror series Scream Queens in 2015. Grande has since appeared in a few television specials, however, such as Hairspray Live! in 2016.

Grande got her start in acting when she played the role of "Cat" on the Nickelodeon sitcom Victorious, as well as its spin-off show Sam and Cat. She has voice-acted in two animated films and had a cameo appearance in 2016's Zoolander 2.

Grande can be seen in the fifth episode of Kidding, which will air on February 23rd.
