Ed Sheeran is a 30-year-old singer-songwriter from Halifax, UK, best known for his hits like "Shape of You" and "Perfect."

After becoming engaged in 2018, Sheeran announced he was taking a break from music after he married his wife, Cherry Seaborn, in 2019. The pair welcomed a daughter, Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran, in August 2020.

The "Tenerife Sea" crooner recently announced that he was dropping a new album this year after the music video release of his single "Bad Habits" on June 25, 2021.

Sheeran's fifth studio album, =, will be released later this week on October 29, 2021.

However, Sheeran recently announced on his Instagram page that some of his promotional efforts might be hindered due to a recent COVID-19 diagnosis.

Sheeran's Statement

In a brief Instagram post, Sheeran stated, “Hey guys. Quick note to tell you that I’ve sadly tested positive for Covid, so I’m now self-isolating and following government guidelines. It means that I’m now unable to plough ahead with any in person commitments for now, so I’ll be doing as many of my planned interviews/performances I can from my house. Apologies to anyone I’ve let down. Be safe everyone x”

Fans were quick to support the singer, filling his page with prayer hands emojis and well wishes for a speedy recovery.

“I’m sorry to hear that!” one fan wrote. “Get better soon.”

“Your health is most important,” another added.

One fan added, “Stay safe” alongside a heart emoji.

The diagnosis comes one day after Sheeran was seen supporting his wife and her Harleston Magpies teammates during a hockey game in the Suffolk town. Due to the pouring rain, Sheeran was photographed watching from his car, a blue Bentley Bentayga.

Seaborn is an acid hockey player. After her pregnancy, she returned to the club she first joined at the age of 17. In 2009, she earned the distinction of being named the Female Young Player of the Year. She also helped her team with the British University Championship in 2012 and 2013 while she studied at Durham University.

Future Work

In addition to his newest album, Sheeran revealed to a Dutch radio station that Elton John reached out to him to collaborate on a new Christmas single after “Step Into Christmas” reached the UK Top 10 charts for the first time.

However, John didn’t seem too pleased that Sheeran spilled the beans, as their collaboration was supposed to be kept a secret.

“Yeah, he let the cat out of the bag, didn’t he?” John asked. “I was sworn to secrecy and then big mouth f--king Sheeran goes to the Netherlands. It’s supposed to come out…we haven’t finished it yet, so there’s still work to be done.”

He added, “I can’t say any more than that because it’s in his hands.”

Sheeran has held the top spot in the UK for the past fifteen weeks. After his first single “Bad Habits” propelled him to the number one spot, it was quickly replaced by his most recent hit single, “Shivers.”
