Meghan McCain is once again in the crosshairs of President Donald Trump, and the controversial political pundit and talk show host is looking towards her greatest protector for strength during the trying time. While Sunday may have been full of Super Bowl festivities for the rest of the world, “The View” co-host was remembering her father, the late Senator John McCain.
“Miss you the most on Sunday’s. 526 days. Every day I miss something different, more,” McCain began a long message to her Instagram followers.
35-year-old McCain shared a goofy photo of her father and wrote about his charm and ability to have a good laugh at himself now and then.
“Today I miss your omnipresent humor and ability to always find the joke in the darkness. You’re were one of the most famous men in history and you never took yourself so seriously you couldn’t make fun of yourself.”
She also spoke about his sense of humor and boisterous laugh:
“And when you laughed you, you really laughed, laughed with your entire body, clapping, hitting your face, tilting back in your chair. Deep, intense, willful laughs. The most infectious laugh in the entire world and everyone would always laugh alongside you. You had a dark sense of humor, biting and self deprecating.”
With so much drama in Meghan McCain’s life these days, including battles with her co-stars on “The View,” and others in the public arena who lash out, the star admits she’s laughing a lot less these days.
“When you loved someone you would refer to them as “little shit” or “bastard” – something I’m sure a politician couldn’t get away with today… There was always a joke. Some that were just between us. I laugh a lot less without you. But as you used to tell me “As Yoggi Berra used to say – when you come to a fork in the road, take it!”
Without Senator McCain for political adversaries to focus on, Meghan has taken his place as some still attack the memory of her father. A new book by two journalists at The Daily Beast allege President Donald Trump once went on a tirade about Meghan and her father, which allegedly included multiple shots at her weight.
“She’s been getting fatter?” Trump is said to have asked his advisors in the book, “Sinking in the Swamp: How Trump’s Minions and Misfits Poisoned Washington.”
Donald Trump and John McCain did not hide their disdain for one another, and Meghan has also addressed the ongoing disrespect, describing Trump as “pathetic,” during her tenure on “The View.”
The authors at The Daily Beast claim a confidant of President Trump was subjected a long rant about the McCain family, in which he allegedly said Meghan was “dumber” than her father, and attacked her weight. He also allegedly described what an “awful” host she is on “The View.”
Meghan has not yet addressed the accusations directly, but as she’s said before regarding the verbal barbs lobbed by Trump:
“I don’t expect decency from the Trump family.”
