The 2020 Super Bowl Halftime performance by Jennifer Lopez and Shakira is in the books. While there have been countless mixed reviews regarding people’s opinions on the outing, it’s definitely garnered a lot of attention before and afterward.
One such person who has given her thoughts on the performance is Lady Gaga, who, herself, performed at the game several years ago. The day before the big game, Lady Gaga had a chance to speak about her expectations for the halftime performance by JLo and Shakira, poking a little bit of fun at the duo. “I better hear no lip-syncing tomorrow,” she said playfully, referencing her flawless performance at the Super Bowl several years ago.
Lady Gaga then proceeded to share her admiration for both Lopez and Shakira, stating that she has so much love for both of the artists and she wishes the best of luck to all of the players competing in the game. “I wish so much love and so much luck to everyone that’s doing the halftime show, to both the teams that are playing each other in the Super Bowl,” Gaga said. “They’re all champions.”

Of course, social media went crazy following the halftime show performance with many questioning whether there was actually any ‘real’ singing going on, or if it was simply lipsyncing.
One Twitter user came out and went straight for the jugular posting, “Thought it was a Super Bowl Halftime Show, not a Lip Sync for Your Life?” while another shared, “I thought the Lip Sync Battle Halftime Show was pretty good.”
One social media user directly called out Shakira for her perceived use of lipsyncing stating, “Shakira is my idol, but this is the first time I’ve seen someone noticeably lip sync at the Super Bowl.”
Regardless of what people have said on social media platforms, Gaga was convinced that she had seen an epic performance by some of the biggest Latina stars in the business.
Taking to her Twitter account, Gaga offered heaping praise to Lopez and Shakira. “@JLo and @shakira and all the special guests were so incredible!!! What a fun halftime show I danced and smiled the whole time. Such powerful sexy women!!!! On camera and off!!!!! Love you beautiful sexy talented women?? #SuperBowlHalftimeShow #SuperBowl,” she wrote.

People will have their opinions about whether the 2020 Super Bowl Halftime performance was simply an attempt by two fading pop stars to remain relevant or a killer outing showcasing that the duo still had what it takes to perform on one of the biggest stages in the world. It’s safe to say, though, despite the countless number of critics on social media, that Lady Gaga was impressed by her fellow artists and undoubtedly showed the love she has for them.
