The long-awaited Pepsi Super Bowl LIV Halftime Show is officially in the books! Shakira, who turned 43 today, shared the stage with Jennifer Lopez, 50. The first part of the show was pioneered by Shakira who then disappeared while Lopez was featured. They joined forces towards the end, and the whole show was packed with energy, twists, and special guests – including Lopez’ daughter!
The biggest highlight to some fans, though, was Lopez’ pole dancing skills that she learned for the movie Hustlers.
Celebs hopped in the conversation as well. Kim Kardashian-West commented: “OMGGGGGG @JLo looks soooooo beyond beautiful!” Similarly, she also said “OMG @shakira !!!!! she looks so beautiful!” Following the conclusion of the performance, Kim added, “They really shut it down!!!! Congrats on that amazing SuperBowl Halftime Show @shakira @JLo.” Her tweet was accompanied by a string of fire and football emojis.
On the subject of Lopez, some Super-Bowl-watchers could not believe that Lopez is 50 years old. One user put it best: “Jennifer Lopez is not a normal 50-year old, I’ll say that much.”
They really shut it down!!!! Congrats on that amazing SuperBowl Halftime Show @shakira @JLo 🔥🔥🔥 🏈 🏈🏈

But it was Shakira’s tongue that created what has to be the most meme-able and GIF-worthy moment to every happen in halftime history. We’re thankful to Twitter user @Sarcastic_Asset for jumping on the task so quickly, and we dare you to watch it with the sound up. Lucky for you (and the world, really), it’s on an automatic repeat.
“Everyone in this room is currently playing this video on loop,” one person tweeted. “It’s surround sound. It’s glorious. I’ve never loved my friends more.”
If I ain’t seen anything ever that’s more meme-worthy, I give you Shakira tongue lol pic.twitter.com/6HcOGBa7Mx

The Twitterverse seems to split on the issue – that is, its intentionality, if any. Some people were just flat confused, but others think she did it on purpose, knowing that it would go viral on social media.
In other Super Bowl entertainment news (because we know nothing about sports), Demi Lovato was beaming as she opened the big night with a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem. The Washington Times reported that some people are calling hers “the best since Whitney.” Wow!
The singer was all smiles in an all white ensemble – very reminiscent of her performance at last week’s GRAMMY Awards!
And as promised, Shakira and J-Lo included a beautiful tribute to the late Kobe Bryant towards the end of their show. It was at this time when Lopez’ daughter, 11-year-old Emme, joined her mom on stage to sing Lopez’ song “Let’s Get Loud.” A giant cross on the field was lit purple and yellow in honor of Bryant’s longtime affiliation with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Shakira previously spoke on her excitement to share the show with Jenny from the Block. “During those six minutes that I have and those six minutes that [Lopez has], we will be able to take people on a journey that shows who we are artistically and who we’ve been all these years.”
Lopez also added that “we accomplished what we set out to do.”
We agree – you sure did!
