Love is a beautiful thing. It’s been proven again and again that people will go to any length to find it and l go even further to keep it. Often times it results in marriage. And sadly, at least according to the latest statistics, half of those trips down the altar end in divorce. Many equate true love with true happiness. Yet in their search for it, people put too much faith in their hearts and not enough in their heads. Like Diana Ross once sang, “you can’t hurry love.” Yet many celebrities would appear to differ.

Celebrity marriages are an endless source of fascination for the public. People revel in their romantic triumphs and empathize with their painful breakups. It would appear that those who live in the public eye are less likely to enjoy an enduring relationship than those who dwell in anonymity. Like the rest of us, celebrities often get caught up in the honeymoon phase of such relationships and rush to turn their significant others into spouses. Some even make a habit of it. Pamela Anderson is the latest celebrity to fall prey to the allure of the altar. Twelve days after Pamela Anderson married for the fifth time, this time to mega-movie producer Jon Peters, the couple separated and appear likely to divorce. She was previously married to Tommy Lee, Kid Rock and twice to Rick Salomon.

Bradley Cooper

Before marrying Peters, Anderson's longest marriage was to Tommy Lee and only lasted a total of three years. Her first trip down the aisle with Rick Salomon ended after sixty days. But Anderson is far from the only celebrity whose marriage was uncommonly brief. Which begs the questions: Are people sometimes more attracted to the altar than to the people who stand at it beside them? Movie star Bradley Cooper's marriage to actress Jennifer Esposito ended in divorce after only four months. And pop star Brittney Spears was married to childhood friend Jason Alexander for just 55 hours.

Drew Barrymore

While the experience appears to have a left a bad taste in some of their mouths, others developed a taste for it. Actress and producer Drew Barrymore has exchanged vows three times, the shortest of which lasted a mere 39 days to Jeremy Thomas. Before Kim Kardashian and Kanye West tied the knot, she had been married twice. The second time was to basketball player Kris Humphries for 72 days. Nicholas Cage's second marriage to Lisa-Marie Presley only lasted for three months. His fourth, to Erika Koike, ended after four days.

Jennifer Lopez

Perhaps those that keep trying are simply more optimistic than those who called it quits after one failed attempt. Having three ex-husbands has not dissuaded Jennifer Lopez from hoping the fourth time is a charm with baseball superstar Alex Rodriguez. Still, several celebrities have rebounded from divorce and found enduring love bound by holy matrimony. Mario Lopez's marriage to Ali Landry ended after two weeks, but he has been married to Courtney Mazza since 2012. And Nicky Hilton's first marriage lasted three months, yet her second has been going strong for nearly five years.
