After announcing their split in August 2019, it only took Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth five months to finalize their divorce — and reports claim that the actor couldn’t be happier now that he’s single again.
Liam and Miley shared an on-off relationship for 10 years, having first met on the set of their rom-com flick, “The Last Song,” in 2010. But following a number of splits throughout their time together, it seems that pulling the plug on their marriage was the final straw.
According to Hollywood Life, Liam has missed his time with the “Wrecking Ball” hitmaker, but he’s genuinely happy to finally be moving on with his life.
“They split because [Liam] realized as he got older and grew up, they weren’t having a traditional marriage and relationship and that was hard for him and it wasn’t working for Miley, either,” a source gushed.
It was further alleged that Liam and Miley were living completely different lives prior to their split, and as opposed to taking yet another break from one another, the two decided that it was best to end things for good.
Insiders added that Liam’s family helped him move ahead with his plans to divorce Miley, giving the impression that there was fear he’d reconcile with the pop star.
“They both really wanted to live their lives differently. They’re all very traditional and always felt Miley and her family were more out there. His parents never saw what he saw.”
Miley’s former sister-in-law, Elsa Pataky, came to Liam’s defense in November, following months of press coverage surrounding the former couple’s rocky relationship, stressing that Liam “deserves much better.”
“My brother-in-law, well… after a relationship that you’ve dedicated ten years to, he’s a little bit down, but he’s coping well, he’s a strong boy and he deserves the best,” the 43-year-old Spanish model explained.
“You always find support in your family, and he’s joined at the hip with [Chris], who has been there to give all the strength he needed.”
While Liam Hemsworth has remained silent on matters concerning his split from his ex-wife, Miley wasted no time recording her emotional ballad, “Slide Away,” which even mentions alcohol and drug abuse as a coping mechanism.
“I want my house in the hills / Don’t want the whiskey and pills / I don’t give up easily But I don’t think I’m down,” Miley sings.
Another part of the song includes the words, “Once upon a time, it was made for us / Woke up one day, it had turned to dust / Baby, we were found, but now we’re lost / So it’s time to let it go.”
Despite having referenced her marriage downfall in her music, Miley has chosen to stay silent after her divorce was finalized last month.
