Ever since marrying rocker Benji Madden in a private ceremony in 2015, Cameron Diaz isn’t spotted out in public often. She’s kept a relatively low profile, much preferring to keep her personal life private, after decades in the spotlight as an A-List actress. Her second act has included marriage to the Good Charlotte star, the publication of her book The Longevity Book, and most recently, the surprise (to fans at least) birth of her first child, a daughter named Raddix.
The couple stunned fans this January just after the turn of the new year, when they confirmed via an Instagram announcement, that they’d brought their first child into the world . On January third, both Diaz and Madden shared the same announcement on their respective Instagram pages with limited comments. In the sweet joint statement, the couple said “instantly captured their hearts and completed their family.” They also said they felt a “strong instinct to protect our little one’s privacy.”
In keeping with her low profile, Diaz hasn’t posted on social media since, but Hollywood Life shared the new photo that captures the first-time mom out and about in Santa Monica on January 31st.
Diaz looked California casual-chic in an oversized turtleneck sweater, loose distressed boyfriend jeans, white sneakers, and black crossbody bag. The strong environmentalist (she famously shared her toilet-flushing philosophy to save water, noting “If it’s brown flush it down, if it’s yellow let it mellow,” meaning, if you’re going number one, why flush if you don’t have to_, carried a glass water bottle to avoid single-use plastic, and had tortoiseshell sunglasses and small gold hoops.
It recently came to light via exclusive to The Blast, that the middle name of their new daughter is ‘Wildflower,’ which seems so fitting for the ultra-hip duo. The Blast obtained the baby’s birth certificate, which showed that her full name is Raddix Chloe Wildflower Madden. Diaz and Madden shared that they’d call their daughter by the nickname “Rad,” which we’re sure will be a fun moniker when she’s old enough to appreciate its originality. Will “Rad” take after her musician dad or actress/author mom? Only time will tell.
It was also recently revealed that the famous couple will not be hiring a nanny, which is surprising in the land of Hollywood A-listers, especially since they can afford the premium cost of around-the-clock childcare support. A source told People that Cameron wants to soak up the special postpartum time with her baby, all herself. “Cameron wants to spend every second with the baby,” the source told the outlet. We’re thrilled for the happy couple and their special new arrival.
