Jesy Nelson is silencing the hate and backlash after the release of her solo single with a few bottles and buds.
The former Little Mix singer faced MAJOR backlash upon releasing her debut single as a solo artist, “Boyz ft. Nicki Minaj.”
The pop singer spent this week at the bar with a handful of friends ripping shots and partying it up with loads of cocktails.
CHEERS!
Jesy captioned the carousel of photos, “It’s only the beginning #Boyz.”
Shots, Shots, Shots, Shots!
Many of her fans and supporters showed her love in the comments section.
One fan wrote, “You deserve all the love,I’m so proud of what you’ve achieved already and I’m so excited to see what else you achieve.I just know that it’s gonna be so much. All of us Baddies will always be here for you Jes,we love you so much🤍.”
Another commented, “ Eeeeeeeekkkkkkkk 🔥🔥🔥🔥,” while this fan sent more praise writing, “so proud of you and cannot wait to hear the rest of your music 🤍.”
With all of the support, there’s also been a major lack of support and backlash.
Upon dropping “Boyz,” Jesy was met with a lot of hate and criticism, with many feeling she was “blackfishing.”
Celebrating “Boyz”
After the song dropped, her former bandmate Leigh-Anne Pinnock allegedly accused her of blackfishing in the music video through supposed DMs with an influencer.
After this happened, things went very south.
Jesy then went on Instagram live with Nicki to issue an apology.
During the IG Live she said, “I personally want to say that my intention was never, ever to offend people of color with this video and my song because like I said, growing up as a young girl, this is the music that I listened to. These are the videos that I watched and thought were the best.”
She insisted that the darker skin tone and hairstyles she sported in the video had nothing to do with her trying to integrate herself into the black culture, it’s just what she knows.

Nicki ended popping off on the Live and accused Leigh-Anne Pinnock – without naming her name – of trying to destroy Jesy’s solo career and she also said some not so nice words about the rest of her former bandmates.
The rap queen went on to say Leigh-Anne supported a different friend, Gabrielle Urquhart, who was blackfishing after she wrote “werrrrrkkkk” on a social media post.
Nicki questions Leigh-Anne about her white friend who has dark tan:
“You all for your friend who’s ‘Blackfishing’ right? Why everybody can’t ‘Blackfish’ then if it’s cool for your friend? Stop using this fake selective outrage when you have personal vendettas against people” pic.twitter.com/d2oWNWQIH6

“One more thing. In my stories I just posted, your friend and you on her pictures talking about ‘werk?’ The b**** look blacker than the blackest black man in America,” Nicki quipped. “I don’t know what shades they come in in the UK, but you all for your friend who’s blackfishing, right? So can’t everybody blackfish then if it’s cool for your friend? Stop using this fake selective outrage when you have personal vendettas against people.”
