Taylor Swift’s recent release ‘Lover’ details about her mom’s health that seems to be deteriorating. Her 31st January Netflix Documentary, ‘Miss Americana’ also touches on Andrea’s battle with cancer. The singer opened up about her mom’s condition while speaking at an interview with Variety.
According to her, Andrea’s cancer come-back happened while she was filming ‘Miss Americana.’ She was first diagnosed with the disease in 2015. Although the battle with breast cancer is not the focal point of the documentary, she talks about the struggles, terming it to be quite hard for her.
Andrea was in the treatment process for the returned cancer, and while doing the chemotherapy sessions, her doctors discovered that she had a brain tumor. She had revealed in an interview at Ellen DeGeneres that both her parents had been diagnosed with cancer thus the symptoms were familiar.
However, the brain tumor presented a whole new experience, given that according to Taylor, brain tumor symptoms are nothing of what cancer patients go through. She adds that it was a difficult time for the family.
Taylor was on her new album ‘Lover’ tour when the news of her mom’s brain tumor news surfaced. She decided to cut the trip short and spend much of her time with her family. Her relationship with her mom seems to be unique. As she reveals, the popstar has to consult Andrea before she makes any decisions.
Her mom, on the other hand, is supportive of her family. As TheUnionJournal.com reports, she in November 2019, stepped out with her family to cheer Taylor at the American Music Awards.
She had also accompanied the Grammy Awards victor at the 2015 Academy of Country Music Awards, where Taylor referred to her mom as the guiding force. Taylor has always expressed her love for both parents, although she agrees it isn’t a big deal since everyone else loves their parents.
She says that both her mom and dad have battled cancer, and that has made her learn how to approach serious illnesses. The experience taught her that real problems exist, and she defines cancer as a real problem, and nothing else matters to her.

In a Tumblr post that has since been deleted, Taylor expresses her approach when something happens to her. She revealed that she does not react to them immediately, but takes time to process the issue and write a song about how she feels, and so people only get to hear about it later. Her mom’s first diagnose with cancer came to light after Taylor asked her to take the tests over Christmas. She admits how speaking about her was a big deal, given how close they are.
