Life as a member of the Royal Family is not easy. All eyes are on you … all of the time. Prince Harry has been very vocal about how uneasy the attention from the press has made him, especially after losing his mother, Princess Diana, in an accident when he was very young. Diana’s vehicle was embroiled in a chase with the paparazzi.
Now, Harry is getting his own wife and child out of the UK to protect from such measures, and his friend Nacho Figueras has something to say about it.
Before announcing their decision to step back from the Royal Palace, both Prince Harry and wife Meghan Markle had given interviews in which they opened up about the brutality of the British media.
The Duke admonished the media, saying he would not be bullied into a system that ended up hurting his mother. The Duchess held back tears when a reporter asked her how she was dealing with public criticism while simultaneously trying to raise her infant son, Archie Harrison.
Critics of the couple, both in the press and in the general public, have instead been blaming Duchess Meghan for the split. Rumors and accusations have spread, insisting that she had talked Prince Harry into the exit so she could focus on her acting career and make a name for herself.
Some have even accused Meghan of using recent charity events she attended to try to compete with Kate Middleton, especially on social media where posts have been made highlighting her charity work
According to Argentine polo player Nacho Figueras, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have actually been having quite a rough time since they decided to pick up and move to Canada.
Figueras says Prince Harry “has suffered a lot” in his lifetime and is just trying to live a “normal life” now. The athlete reiterated Harry’s words, pointing out the loss of Harry’s mother and saying the prince is simply trying to protect his family. Figueras pointed to the way the British press has treated Meghan as a major reason for this.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex recently doubled down on their private life policy. After cameras were caught snapping photos of Duchess Meghan and baby Archie while out on a hike in Canada, the Duke and Duchess decided to fight back.
Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan called out the paparazzi for driving unsafely, camping out near their home, and for hiding in bushes to try to get their shots. Lawyers have been called in to draft a cease and desist order against the photographers.
