With the dust beginning to settle from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s decision to relinquish their roles as senior members of the royal family and become financially independent, several reports over the last several weeks have indicated that the couple might be moving towards careers in acting and film production. It’s well-known that Markle previously had an acting career, a showcase by Suits, the wildly successful show that followed a corporate lawfirm in Manhattan. However, Prince Harry might be getting in on the action, as well.
A source close to the couple spoke to Us Weekly and recently shared that Markle is trying to dive right back into acting, going so far as to look for new managers and agents to represent her.
“Meghan is actively looking for representation. She has begun outreach,” the source revealed to Us Weekly. “It can be a manager or an agent, but she’s reaching out to people to find someone to represent her for future professional projects.”
It’s unknown how far along in the process Markle currently is, but she’s at least putting out feelers to begin finding acting work again. Despite not being on television since Suits, though, she did have a voice-over gig back in December.
The story behind Markle getting a voice-over job with Disney back in December is interesting in itself. It was reported that Prince Harry and Meghan brokered the deal before they had made the formal announcement of their abdication and move to North America. Even more intriguing, Markle had completed her voice-over responsibility by the end of 2019.
And it seems that the couple is forming quite the alliance with Disney as Prince Harry was spotted alongside the company’s CEO, Bob Iger, last summer at the Lion King Premiere, where he was plugging his wife for future roles within the organization. The conversation between the two luckily was captured.
At the Lion King premiere, Prince Harry was recorded sharing with Iger that Markle does voice-overs for television shows and films.
“You know, she does voiceovers,” Harry could be seen saying while pointing to Markle, who was away speaking to Beyonce and Jay-Z. “Oh really, I did not know that,” Iger responded. “She’s really interested,” Prince Harry replied. Iger was instantly excited and said that they would give it a try.
This opportunity seems to have manifested itself, as only months later, Markle signed a contract to do a voiceover for a Disney program. Markle isn’t the only one getting involved in film, though.
It was also recently reported that Prince Harry is working with Oprah on a documentary that focuses on mental health which is set to play on Apple’s new streaming platform.
The documentary builds on the work that he has done with Prince William and Kate Middleton in their Heads Together campaign to help fight mental illnesses. Harry shared that the documentary will present “global stories of unparalleled human spirit fighting back from the darkest places”. No date for the release of the documentary has been set.
