It’s been several days since reports surfaced that Kobe Bryant and his daughter, Gianna, died tragically in a helicopter crash, along with seven other passengers. It was devastating news for people all around the world as they took to social media to express their condolences to the members of the victims’ respective families, including Vanessa Bryant, Kobe’s wife, and three other children. However, Bryant had not yet made any public statements since the event, that is, until now. Taking to Instagram, Bryant shared a heartfelt message, expressing what is giving her family peace during this extremely trying time.
The picture posted to Instagram by Vanessa on Wednesday featured the family of six, including the now-deceased Kobe and Gianna, where she thanked the millions of people who have offered support for her family amid the tragedy. Bryant also shared what is keeping her family at peace, despite their losses.
“My girls and I want to thank the millions of people who’ve shown support and love during this horrific time,” Bryant started out her lengthy Instagram post. “Thank you for all the prayers. We definitely need them. We are completely devastated by the sudden loss of my adoring husband, Kobe — the amazing father of our children; and my beautiful, sweet Gianna — a loving, thoughtful, and wonderful daughter, and amazing sister to Natalia, Bianka, and Capri.”
Bryant went on to say that there are no possible words that she could use to describe the pain that she and her family are feeling right now but she is able to take comfort in one thing. “There aren’t enough words to describe our pain right now,” Bryant continued. “I take comfort in knowing that Kobe and Gigi both knew that they were so deeply loved. We were so incredibly blessed to have them in our lives. I wish they were here with us forever.”
Along with her statement on the death of her husband and daughter, she also provided the names of several organizations that people could donate to in order to help the families of the victims.
The organization that will be used to help with the other victim’s families and the associated costs is the MamabaOneThree fund set up by the Mamba Sports Foundation. Bryant also shared that people could always visit MambaSportsFoundation.org to “further Kobe and Gianna’s legacy in youth sports.”
Bryant’s post has generated quite the amount of attention as people have complimented her on her strength during this tragic time. And accordingly, many other big names have also taken to social media to share their thoughts and offer condolences to the Bryant family, including current Los Angeles Lakers star, LeBron James.
In a heartfelt post of his own, James struggled to put his emotions into words. It was just the night before Kobe’s untimely death that he had passed the Hall-of-Famer on the list of all-time scoring. Bryant and James shared an unrivaled bond as some of the best to ever play the game.
“I’m Not Ready but here I go,” James began. “Man I sitting here trying to write something for this post but every time I try I begin crying again just thinking about you, niece Gigi and the friendship/bond/brotherhood we had! I literally just heard your voice Sunday morning before I left Philly to head back to LA. Didn’t think for one bit in a million years that would be the last conversation we’d have. WTF!! I’m heartbroken and devastated my brother!!”
