It’s safe to say that since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle left the royal family for Canada and forfeited their responsibilities as senior members, life has not been easy for Prince William and Kate Middleton. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been slapped with an increasing number of roles since, leading Middleton to be stretched thin and drowning in stress and anxiety. And even though it’s been reported that Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice could step in to help alleviate the strain, Middleton is still feeling the pressure.
An insider close to the royal family shared with Us Weekly just how stressed Kate Middleton is with all of the new responsibilities that she’s had to take on to already long list of roles. “Kate’s in a panic and has been having bouts of anxiety. She barely has time to rest, and when she does try to sleep, her mind is constantly racing,” they said to the publication.
It’s been reported that the 38-year-old is already working up to 18 hours per day and that she’s worried about how she’ll manage to balance the additional responsibilities on top of being a mother. “She’s already stretched pretty thin, and now she’s really worried about how she’ll juggle the extra workload on top of her family life,” the source continued.

At one point, Middleton and Markle were close, as both of their husbands were princes and brothers; however, the exact opposite couldn’t be more of the case right now. According to the same source, Prince Harry and Meghan’s decision to leave the royal family has put a considerable amount of strain on Middleton and Prince William, leading the rift created between the two duchesses as big as it could get. “They couldn’t be further apart,” the source said in reference to Meghan and Kate’s relationship.

If you’ll recall, Prince Harry and Meghan left the Royal Foundation charity to start their own, which left the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge with even more responsibilities at that point. Another source speaking with The Sun shared how that was affecting the couple’s other duties within the family.
“William knows he will have a lot more work this year and is happy to perform whatever duties the Queen asks of him,” the source began. “But he is determined that won’t be to the detriment of his charity work. Since his brother Harry and Meghan left the Foundation last year, the work it does has been very much in the model of how both William and Kate want it to be.”

The source in speaking with The Sun continued to share that despite their increasing roles and responsibilities, the foundation is very important to the couple and that they will not skimp on ensuring that it is effectively run.
“But the Foundation is where their passion lies and where they believe they can have a huge impact in 2020,” they said. “Put simply he wants to help bring about a crusade on the issue and feels incredibly passionate about it. Delivering on those aims and ambitions are important to him and he has already drawn up a hectic timetable with his team within the Foundation. Two of the biggest areas are around mental health and supporting those who work in the emergency services.”
Everyone has their breaking point, though. We’ll have to see if any of the other royal family members can step up and help remove some of the stress from Prince William and Kate, for their sake, at least.
