Joe Manganiello remembers Halyna Hutchins in an emotional social media post.
The “Magic Mike” star, 44, took to Instagram to share a beautiful tribute to the cinematographer, 42, who was fatally shot on the set of “Rust” on Thursday afternoon, which led to her death.
Remembering The Talented Cinematographer
Manganiello posted a lovely black-and-white picture of Hutchins caught in action, doing what she loved best.
“I woke up to the messages and read the news and I am in shock. I was so lucky to have had @halynahutchins as my DP on Archenemy. She was an absolutely incredible talent and a great person,” he captioned the post.
He continued, “She had such an eye and a visual style, she was the kind of cinematographer that you wanted to see succeed because you wanted to see what she could pull off next. She was a fantastic person.”

Manganiello added, “There was no amount of pressure she couldn’t handle. She was a great collaborator and an ally to anyone in front of her camera. Everyone who knew her was rooting for her.”
The actor also noted that what happened to Hutchins was unbelievable and just plain tragic.
“I can’t believe that this could happen in this day and age… gunfire from a prop gun could kill a crew member? This is a horrible tragedy. My heart goes out to her family and especially to her son. I am so sad today for everyone who knew her and worked with her…”
Mourning Her Death
The film’s production company, Rust Movie Productions LLC, also addressed Hutchin’s tragic death in a statement, as seen on the New York Times:
“The entire cast and crew has been absolutely devastated by today’s tragedy, and we send our deepest condolences to Halyna’s family and loved ones. We have halted production on the film for an undetermined period of time and are fully cooperating with the Santa Fe Police Department’s investigation. We will be providing counseling services to everyone connected to the film as we work to process this awful event.”
How She Died
As reported by The Blast, Hutchins was shot on the set of the Western film “Rust” written and directed by Joel Souza, 48.
The incident happened when actor Alec Baldwin, 63, discharged a prop gun during production. The director was also injured but has now been discharged from the hospital, as per Deadline.

Actress Frances Fisher, 69, took to Twitter and announced Souza’s state of health.
“Director Joel Souza told me he’s out of hospital,” she wrote.
Fisher also clarified false information about the director.
“Hi @shannonrwatts Those quotes are incorrect. And our director Joel Souza is out of hospital. I don’t subscribe to the daily beast so if that’s what they’re saying, they are wrong. Will you please correct them?” she tweeted to Shannon Watts, 50, founder of Mom’s Demand Action and a gun violence prevention activist.
According to Deadline, Hutchins died while being transported to a hospital in Albuquerque.
“Mr. Baldwin was questioned by investigators and released,” said a Santa Fe Sheriff’s Department official. “No arrests or charges have been filed.”
