It’s perfectly understandable that it can take a lifetime to get over the deaths of spouses and children, although, even a lifetime might not be enough. Vanessa Bryant, the widowed wife of Kobe Bryant and mother of Gianna, who were both tragically killed in a helicopter crash on Sunday is reportedly not doing well since the accident. It’s to be expected that she wouldn’t be, naturally, but sources close to the family have shared exactly how difficult it is for the now mother of three.
As of this writing, Vanessa Bryant has not made any public statements on the loss of her husband, Kobe, and daughter, Gianna, but insiders close to the family have shared that she’s a complete wreck. Speaking to People Magazine on January 28th, a source shared the state of Bryant and her remaining family. “It’s an extremely difficult and devastating time for Vanessa and the whole family,” referring to Bryant and their remaining three daughters — Natalia, 17, Bianka, 3, and Capri, 7-months-old.
#KobeBryant we will forever miss you. Praying for your beautiful wife #VanessaBryant for God to give her strength to keep moving and smiling to her children. No words can help her after losing her loving husband and her beautiful daughter, only God can. 🙏🏽 https://t.co/JCn5u9Uz3O

The source went on to describe how difficult it is for Vanessa to even form a single sentence without breaking down and crying. “She can hardly keep it together,” they said. “She can’t finish a sentence without crying. But she is working very hard to pull it together for the other girls. She now has to be the strong one.” According to friends of the family, Vanessa knows that despite it being a ridiculously trying time, she has to provide strength to hold the family together so that they can move forward in their lives.

Another source went on to share just how close Vanessa and Kobe were, despite the ups and downs that they two had in their life. According to her friends, they were soul mates and best friends. “Of course, you can never be prepared for this. Despite their ups and downs, [Vanessa and Kobe] were soulmates. She thought of him as her partner for life.”
Kobe even posted a picture to Instagram a month before he died of the day Vanessa and he first met. Along with the picture was the caption, “On this day 20 years ago I met my best friend, my Queen @vanessabryant I decided to take her on a date to Disneyland tonight to celebrate old school style (pre 4princesses) I love you my mamacita per sempre.”
While the loss of her husband and daughter will not be something that she’ll probably ever get over, Vanessa is fortunate to have a support system around her while the family goes through the grieving process. According to a friend, “[Bryant] is surrounded by people who love her and love Kobe. She has a good support system. She is relying on her faith. She is not alone. But she will be grieving this for a very long time.” Healing is never easy, but we’re hoping that her family will continue to be supported as they go through this difficult time.
